  3. I was wondering what oils are good for treatments for dry brittle hair. You know like the VO5 brand. Anyway I make CP soap and I have lots of oils, but which one (or ones) would be best for hair? Thanks for any suggestions. LaurieH
  4. Thanks for the tip on QuietGirls recipe, I think I will try it tomorrow. Now I just have to decide what scent to use. Laurie
  5. If was wanting to formulate a recipe for a soap that is better for mature, dry skin would it be better to use oils that are higher in linoleic? I was going through the oils on soapcalc and found some that are higher in linoleic than the oleic. Would the soap turn out OK if those oils were used? Or would I only need to add 1 oil high in linoeic to the base oils of say coconut, palm, olive, and such? I am trying to find a recipe that would be very moisturizing for mature, dry(extremely) skin. Thanks for any help. Laurie
  6. OK Thanks for the reassurance. I will try to cut it tomorrow. It does still look creamy though. I didnt want it to gel. Thanks again Laurie
  7. Well thats where the I dont know if I did it right comes in. I was supposed to add 20.26 oz of water (15% discount) so that would mean approx. 10 oz each of water and Gm. But I cant remember if I did it that way. For the life of me I cant remember if I discounted the water or not. Like I said I couldnt hardly sleep last night thinking about it. I changed the water discount to 0% in the soapcalc and came up with approx 23oz water, so if I did add too much liquid it will be about 7 ozs too much. It did come to trace and was thick like pudding when I was putting it in the mold, so maybe I didnt. I would think if there was too much liquid it would never get thick like that. I dont know, I hate second guessing myself. LaurieH
  8. I made a Goats milk soap last night, first time doing this. I think i forgot to discount the water for the amount of GM I added. I put it in the deep freeze over night and took it out this morning and it is starting to thaw and its getting oily or watery on top. I went ahead and put it in the fridge so it doesn't thaw too fast. Is this normal for the soap to weep after coming out of the freezer or did I do something wrong? I couldnt hardly sleep last night thinking about if I had added too much water. If I did use too much water, what will happen to the soap? Will it just take forever to cure or is it ruined? And how will I be able to tell if there is too much water. It was a large batch, 70 ozs. TIA LaurieH
  9. Those look yummy! How did you get them out of the mold? I never could get them out without having to stick a knife down the sides, even after putting them in the freezer over night. LaurieH
  10. OK I think I may have found the Cozy Cabin scent. I bought a small candle at the Cold Canyon store and I think it smells almost exactly like NG Kama Sutra line Satin Sheets. I am out of the satin sheets so ordered more to compare. Laurie
  11. Has anyone found a replacement for the Comfy Cabin yet, I have a customer wanting this fragrance. I had rmembered reading about it, but never had anyone asking for it. Since it is no longer available at CCS, can it be bought anywhere else. Laurie
  12. Anyboby found out any thing else on these jars? LaurieH
  13. I'm looking for a good dupe of this. I have a request for it, so I got some of BNL's from BCN. I think it stinks, smells nothing like coconut in wax. Are there any others out there that are dead on dupes? I use J223. Thanks Laurie
  14. I recently tried these kind of candles. I used ezsoy but cant find a wick that works. For the embeds I used 4794, is this wax too hard for the soy? Can you use another kind of wax or maybe 50/50 with soy and J223 or J50? I really like the look of these so really want to get them right. What wicks would work best? LaurieH
  15. I use an old pair of panty hose. There is alot of debis in the wax from the supplier. I noticed all the stuff in the bottom of my jars also, then I started using panty hose inside a big tea strainer. I dont use the wax until it has been strained into my pour pots. Laurie
  16. I have a customer wanting this scent. Has anyone heard of it, and who might have the dupe. TIA Laurie
  17. I think Daystar's Decadent Orange Fluff Cake smells just like Natures Garden's Hot orange danish. Anybody else smell the resemblance? Laurie
  18. Thanks Janette for your reply. I really dont have the space to keep them all separate. I'll have to look into some other way to display them. LaurieH
  19. Hi all... I've been reading lots of posts and learning so much. I've been making candles for about 2 years now, but just recently started making tarts and votives. I bought some PVC shrink wrap tubing and was wondering if I shrink wrapped my votives and tarts if the scent leaches through and mixes. I just have a basket with various scented votives and need to know if they will all smell the same after awhile. Thanks LaurieH
