  1. definately highlight the features of all of your waxes, and be sure to add those benifits too ! I use paraffin, beeswax mostly, but I dabble now & then with soy. I do my best to inform my customers about the qualities of each product, without giving too many boring specs. I don't want anyone to be misinformed or afraid of what they've been told by the media.BTW-love your avatar :D Big KISS fan too

  2. No ,it's definately not you,so don't throw in the towel. Everything right now is slow, all of my accounts are telling me how slow their shops are.I've been doing this for 12 years now, and one thing I've learned is this business is "Feast or Famine".

Spring & summer have always been this way,and I used to panic-still do at times :wink2: But people are spending alot more time outdoors or working on their homes,vacations,ect..and scenting their humble abodes is usually not at the top of their list right now.

I use my down time to test ,create and prepare for the feast :D

It's coming, before you know it you'll be wanting the time off :shocked2:

  3. Oh my, now you're talking . I loved all of those scents. I still have my old bottles (pack rat). There was another one called Biddles oil of musk,it had a cork top and the whole thing was dipped in wax (sealed). you had to pull the little wire around the cork to open it-very cool. wearing those scents was considered a rite of passage back then, once I hit 6th grade, no more Sweet Honesty for me :grin2:

BWC, I will check into your bottle and see if I can find the name of your mystery perfume for you

  4. how about some blank journals with her pics on the cover ?

you can get the journals at the crafts stores and just download HM pics to modpodge on the cover. I too live in a home with an 11 year old fan ;)

  5. HMM- to the ones that like to tell their friends in MY booth, "I get all my candles at the $ store/Wally world", I would like to say to them,"yes and you get what you pay for,a crappy candle at a bargin price" or "I'm sorry I'm not the $ store, I make only quality candles with quality ingredients. and I don't have foreign children as employees ':grin2:

now the do-it yourselfers that are always "gonna make that" and become wealthy. I have actually told them all the scary stuff about investing loads of money, business insurance/product liability, not to mention the risk of fire and personal injury and endless testing, shipping costs and that sort of stuff :P

  6. I recieved an email over the weekend from some foreign guy named Alibaba blicka blick ,or something like that. anyhow, he rambled on about someone being held in another country and they needed to transfer 25 million into my account, and have me exchange into US funds. After I finished laughing hysterically, I deleted it. I wanted so badly to send my reply-"get bent", but decided it was best not to :grin2:

  7. Thank You for the replies.I am going to check all of these and see about the cost. I did find some at Candles and Supplies.I was in a hurry with a show next week-end. Problem is I don't think they are rustic looking.I did read once where you can put the tins in the oven to change color but really don't want to use my oven for that.

Going to check these sites out. IF I sell these(not so sure) I will want to get more.I am using the tins for lemongrass candles for camping. The 16 ounce size would be best(covers larger areas).

    Again Thank you

    LynnS

I wouldn't recommend the oven option, it smells horrible

I used to "bake" my paint tins in the summer, and have 3 fans running to blow the smell outside. UGH- the crazy things I've done :embarasse

  8. Oh, my poor mother is being recruited for a "mother-daughter weekend" she really has no clue what I'm doing to her. LOL!

I am registering today, made arrangements for the dog sitter, we are going to Pittsburgh. :yay: LOL! (God, I need to get out more).

There's lots to see & do there, esp. if you're a Steelers fan

Me & the hubby will be making the usual stops. Union Station is very cool, with shops & eateries galore -great fish & cold brews :grin2:

if you're not afraid of heights, you can ride the Duquesne incline to the top of this huge hill. There's restraunts & historical things up there. The 3 Rivers also has ferry boats taking tours throughout the day & evening . Now, that was my friendly tourist guide schpeel for the day :cheesy2:

  9. See how popular you are :D I will order a sample from them. I have been all over the place trying to match that since you closed. I'm glad you answered all of mine (and others) questions, there were so many rumours about who you may or may not have sold your formulas to and it's been driving me crazy trying to track it down :tongue2: Thank you so much ! maybe you could do pre-buys once in awhile ? I would be interested in that .

P.S sorry about the ghost thing;)

  10. I get so tempted to buy some of those crappy candles & burn them just so I can have them on hand to show people what they're really getting for a couple bucks. The container candles I've seen at the $ stores are only 1/4 to 1/2 full of stinky wax & the wicks are way off to the side ! Makes me cringe:eek:

I spend so much time testing & trying to keep customers informed on safety, this completely goes against everything that represents a safe candle .

  11. I want to scream (and I do ) everytime I get an email from my suppliers about price increases.:angry2: It makes it so difficult for all of us to earn a decent profit, especially when we have to keep raising our prices so often lately. We can't afford not to.

When I started my business almost 12 years ago, I was paying around $29.00 for a case of container wax,$10-$12 per pound of oils, and the shipping was considerably alot less. This is why you sometimes overhear people remark at craft shows, "$$$ for a candle ? I can just get them at Wally World or the $ store". It's frustrating as hell, but your loyal following will stand by you, because they understand. I sure hope our economy turns around real soon,I've worked my butt off too hard & too long to hang it up & work for someone else:angry2:

  12. well alright, that gives me somewhat of an idea. I just got this scent from Flicker's called mystic woods, there's no pine Christmasy smell at all. To me ,it smells like a really sexy outdoors scent.

maybe a masculine cologne? My hubby loved it,I cannot keep myself away from it:drool: (thanks Abbie)

I would suggest ordering a sample, because it may be what you're looking for.

  13. I love the moon theme :smiley2: !!! I can work with that & it won't make anyone faint. This is a spin on Y...... "witches brew", it has some patchouli & other earthy notes and a definate tea smell.

This one is absolutely beautiful, I haven't ordered from Tony's in awhile, but I will be more often.

    Thanks for your input:highfive:
