  1. I have used/tested just about every wax imaginable. One BCN FO that ALWAYS has a STRONG throw both hot & cold at 1 oz. pp is Twigs & Berries. Also Country Berry Hotcakes. If you have tried those 2 and they didnt work, then something is either wrong with the wax, or your sniffer may be overloaded. :) HTH!

  2. I know some people are hesitant to add their FO at higher temps in fear that it will burn off the FO. I just have never had that happen. In fact, the only time I have had problems with the FO is when I have added it at too cool of a temp. In this case, the wax is probably around 180'ish when I add the FO. I heat to 195, but by the time I get it in the pour pot, it is probably dropped in temp by that much.

  3. For my latest tester I used 6% lemongrass FO from Greenleaf in an 8 oz. Crisa jar (simular to the diameter/height of a jelly jar) with a CD 14. I need to wick up to a CD 16 though, as this is leaving major hangup on one side of the jar. A CD 16 should be perfect, as these do taper a slight bit as they get closer to the bottom. HTH!

  4. I had to come back and comment on this topic. I got my pour temp down for this wax! :yay: I am heating to 195, putting in the pour pot, adding FO/Color, and pouring after I stir it all up. Smooth shiney tops, no wet spots, awesome cold throw immediatly. No frosting so far either. This really is a great wax once you get the pour temps down. I have used 415, loved the throw, hated the frost and the cool pouring temp. Then tried EcoSoya Advanced, loved the way the candles looked, hated the throw. This wax seems to have all the great qualities of both those waxes. The hot throw is awesome too. :grin2: Thaks for everyones help!

  5. Im testing this wax and am having a hard time getting decent tops. I have poured at 115-110-120. Still I get odd crusty tops. :undecided Like thin, crusty pitted layers. I can smooth them out with the heat gun, but I really dont want to have to touch up every candle. Should I adjust the temps up or down? I am pouring into room temp jars, no drafts, and my house is 75 degrees right now. Should I cool this wax under a box? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

  6. I cant help with where you might be able to find wax in S. Africa, but I did want to chime in. I also made candles with paraffin, J223 to be exact. I also decided to try a natural wax. I found that for me, making the switch from paraffin to natural was not too bad, as I decided to start with a parasoy blend. I use GreenLeafs 70/30 wax, 70% soy-30% paraffin. It still allows you to pour hot, avoid the frosting problems you have to fight with pure soy + it throws great and burns really clean. (providing your wicking is right, as with any wax) You dont have to use GreenLeaf, any parasoy would probably be worth trying out. You could even try making your blend useing the paraffin you already use and finding some pure soy to mix with it :) I have heard some great things about several of the 50/50 blends as well. HTH!

  7. Thanks everyone for the great feedback! The green Clover is growing on me now. It wasnt what I envisioned at first so it looked bad to me at first. Yall know how that goes, LOL! :)

I totally forgot to put the silk in these! It is definatly going in the next batch though. I cant wait to see what kind of differance it makes. I did add some sugar to my water this time though. Guess I will see what that does once this cures. Thanks again!

  8. I got my new kelsie and I just LOVE it! Made a couple of batches and thought Id share. :)

The first is Green Clover & Aloe. It traced on me pretty quick, so my swirls didnt do what I wanted. I suppose it is still OK. My girls say they like it, they say it looks like it has vines on it, LOL!

This one is Apple Jack & Peel. I loved the way this one turned out! :) It's my first decent swirl. Yippie!

    Thanks for looking. :)

  9. Looks beautiful! Hurry up and take a pic, cause in a week it will look like a bar of chocolate Im betting. I did the same batch for the V-day swap I hosted. Same mold, same pink swirls. Turned DARK brown. I still love it though! Pink sugar is sooooo yummy! Great swirl :)

  10. I wouldnt change a thing! The colors couldnt be more perfect for the scent. The layers are so crisp, it's just beautiful ;)

Now, I do CP but am gonna do some MP soap for a swap I am in for V-day. I wanted to do layers, but am afraid they wont bond/stick together. You have a helpful hint you could pass along to me? :embarasse

  11. Thanks you guys!! Hi Janis!! Long time no see woman!

OK I was looking at these and yet again, there appears to be a butt on that first bar. Man I cannot seem to get away from that lol. (OK I know, go to bed!)

ROFLMAO! Well, that gives the term "A piece of ass" a whole new meaning! :P

Love it, those swirls are the bomb! :wink2:

  12. Sounds very interesting. Let us know how it comes out, and of course if it works, LOL! The Vanilla Java sounds yummy! I also wonder if you could put in just a tiny bit of peppermint EO, to give it some tingle? I know nothing about EO's though, but tingle just seems like it would work better, LOL!
