  1. Hmm, a bizarre manner in which to use a company newsletter!

I haven't used the company in question yet but if I find something that I want to try & the price is right then I'll give it a go....unless I'm now blacklisted for having a personal opinion..& if that were to happen well I wouldn't give a flying f*** about it & I wouldn't rant about it in a company newsletter....I'd share it with you all here!

    Sally.

Considering all the no throw complaints, watery seeming, and comments about crap floating around in the fo, I have one word. WHY? With so many great suppliers, why would you subject yourself to something like that.

With Just Scents, the price is always right. It is the most obvious example of getting what you pay for.

  2. Okay, how about these clear seals? (scroll to the bottom)

    http://www.tayloredconcepts.com/accessories.htm

Adhesive tops wouldn't let the customer sniff the product.

The WSP discs are 2-5/8". The inside dimen of a regular mouth sq mason is 2-3/8". WSP doesn't say if their dimen is the bit that fits inside or if it is the outside dimen.

Out of curiosity I checked, and shipping on 144 from WSP to 5 states away is under $8.

To use it as a capper would hinder airflow to the point of fizzling wicks. Regular mouth masons are hard enough to keep burning to the bottom without wicks sputtering because of lack of airflow.

To answer the original question, the point of the lid is that someone will find the perfect application. Just because I might not have use for them doesn't mean someone else won't. The star cutout would have nothing to do with the flat lid sealing or not sealing. There are a lot of products I don't understand the point of, but I try not to let it bother me. I like them well enough that I might invent a reason to use them. They are not available until 2007 so I have several months to come up with something. I'm putting on my thinking cap. I'll let you know if I come up with anything useful. :)

  3. FO will never be better in wax. It can, and in the case of JS most likely will, be worse, but never better. Maybe different. But never better.

OOB is meaningless. Many stout scents fade away when diluted. Many cold throws fade away when the wick is lit.

OOB reviews simply mean it smells good. OOB has no bearing on performance. They all smell good to somebody, somewhere. Somewhat like a good looking man, performance is really all that matters.

  4. IMO I think it would add more value if when posting your likes or dislikes with specific suppliers/scents to be more specific in how you're using the oil...candles, b&b, soap, etc... Especially with candles, what kind of wax you're using. For some reason I heard a lot of good reviews on JS which got me to try them. Now it could of been it worked better for non-candles and I might of assumed they used in candles so my bad for not asking & just assuming. I haven't received my oils yet but I will post my likes and dislikes with it in my wax.

You hit the nail on the head. Reviews without details are worthless. OOB reviews are worse than worthless.

  5. I would not suggest www.diyestores.com. They are a very poor ecommerce provider and they charge far more than the service is worth.

Why do you say that? So many people recommend them. Did you have a bad experience? I have heard it's one of the more difficult ones. Was it too difficult for you? I'm looking around and I want easy peasy.

  6. I have been checking around for wax, I use 4786 and it is priced anywhere from 71.40 per case to 55.60 per case. Some of these suppliers are just ripping us off. Who are they going to sell their wax too when we all bail. LOL

The lower prices might be because it's inventory in stock. When the suppliers have to replenish their stock, they will go up in price accordingly.

  7. I do tend to stir while it is in the pot, then in the pour pot just before I pour. The only thing I wondered about is - I have been having trouble with the "blisters" on top of my votives - so I have tried not to stir too much just before I pour those. I am not sure if the blisters are from the pour or coming from under the wick pin. I NEVER had these problems with votives before....very, very frustrating!

You're using 4627 for votives? That would be much too soft. 4627 often gives a ripple effect, but I've never heard of it blistering.

  8. You are dead wrong, sockmonkey. It is impossible for a vendor to fix a problem if they don't know about the problem. Never, ever complain publicly if you haven't let the problem be known privately. That's just good manners and common sense. If you do, you are nothing more than a whiner. Nobody on this forum was able to fix the problem, so why bother everybody with it?

A complaint should only be voiced publicly if there is no resolution after going to the only person who could fix it. Weekends don't count. Vendors are human, too.

Unless you're a me, me, me, instant gratification kind of person. Then I suppose going public first would be normal.

  9. No, but you did say it was b@@@ s@@@.

It's probably always a good idea to first contact the supplier. Overcharges, floaties, no matter what the issue, contact the supplier first. Then if you don't get resolution, it's b@@@ s@@@.

  10. Looks like I pushed a few buttons on this question, I figured a majority double wicked I just wanted your veiws, and no it really ain't going to help me out. just wanted to know what everone thought. But as to my little poll that people have pushed off. Think for a second, you all might not like yankee but like many of you said they spend $$$ when it comes to marketing and research to come out single wicked.. just putting that past ya's. can't wait to get flamed ^_^

Nobody cares what Yankee does because their candles are crap and they don't throw. If that's what you are trying achieve, your 2 to 3 weeks of chandling should put you in good position to compete with them. Obviously, they don't spend any money on research. Just marketing. Looks like you're on the same track asking potential customers silly questions when you should be testing and determining your own needs when it comes to producing a quality product.

  11. Has anyone found they needed to wick up on the Warm Orange Gingerbread or the Spiced Cranberry from TC? I plan to pour testers on both of these today. They both smell awesome oob can't wait to get these in wax!!!

    TIA, Cindy/WI

If you mean Warm Orange Gingerbread from TCS, yes, you have to wick up. TC is Taylored Concepts. TCS is Tennessee Candle Supply.

  12. I just spent a wonderful evening with my two little kids and I really miss having that fun time with them with all the dramas of life. The internet does give you an advantage over real life, you can brush things off your shoulders very easily and ignore the meaningless aspects of it.

I definitely do not want the company bombarded with emails or rioted, lol, nor did I ever suggest it, as Callaway mentioned above. But thanks for the suggestion, and thank you to all who shared similar experiences with resolutions as well. I think that one experience shared can help thousands, and I just wanted to share mine. I definitely did not want everyone to agree with me or take my side, I wanted help with my dilemma and to vent out my pain, my agony at not having my Amazing Grace and other items to sniff and soap this weekend. Hopefully the company did realize my frustration in the matter and this kind of thing can be avoided in the future, not only for me, but for any and all.

If there is an apology in there somewhere for calling me a rude, mean troll, and for making the strange assumption about me working for SC, and for accusing me of PRACTICALLY (You have even went (should be "gone") as far as practically calling some people stupid idiots, telling them their websites are crappy, they are false advertising, etc.) doing whatever you think I've done, well, I accept your apology.

    So let's be friends. OK?

I'm also looking for Honey by Jo Malone. I'll let you know if I find it.
