I always add my FO to my oils first and stick blend them in. Then I add my lye solution and stir with either a whisk or the stickblender (turned off). If it looks like it's moving quickly, I take out the stickblender and just use the whisk.

The FO was from Just Scent...and it really does smell good. This was also a goatsmilk soap. Actually, the tops are cut that way because what I wanted them to look like didn't work...so I cut them off. LOL

I was curious,...do some of you not have a Lowe's or Menards? Thats where I get mine locally.
Even with shipping, it's more cost effective to buy it online than in those small containers at Lowes...if your Lowes sells it. I've never had the desire to try that Rooto brand or whatever it is, so I'm not even sure if my Lowes carries it.

The Lye Guy is great and his come in those large spice containers. Boyers comes in paint cans which are nice too.

Non-iodized table salt is fine. I also use Morton's Kosher Salt sometimes which is a little bit larger than table salt.

Wow...I just read her policies statement...you have to ASK for an ingredient list you purchase. Items come with instructions for use...that's it!
She also states:
"While we use only FDA and USDA approved ingredients, you
are responsible for checking ingredient lists for potential allergens or irritants."
So, I guess that means if you forget to ask for the list when you buy, you are out of luck?
I'd never buy from someone as deceitful as this.

Don't know where you are in FL, but there is at least one 'Basin' store that I know of (in the Grand Floridian) that sells pretty much the same stuff. I didn't see one person in that store the whole week we were there.

My reply to you on the other forum:
Try using the coconut oil and the balance in shea butter. Makes a nice bar!
Question though, you are using 16 oz salt with only 15.4 oz oils?
You will get better results only using about 80% of your oil weight in salt.

You may also have some oil residue on the spoon or whatever you are mixing with, or the container itself. That'll do it too.

If it's the regular palm, the stearic will settle to the bottom.
I believe they also sell a 'no-stir- palm, but I'm not sure.

I got tired of the mint. This year I used Lime, Patchouli & Petitgrain for my gardeners soaps with nail brushes embedded. I used cornmeal and poppy seeds also.

Yes...I puree the avocado and just subtract the weight from the liquid I'm using. I've done it 2 ways, stick blended into my oils and added at trace. The soap turns a pale 'olive drab' color. I also like using coconut milk with avocado.

I have the Extreme Red which was from DragonLily. She is no longer in business, and if I remember correctly, the colors were being sold by SoapSilly...and I don't know what the story is there...whether she still sells them or not.
I bought True Red at ISOCAN from Kangaroo Blue, but haven't used it yet.

Not a 'total' rebatch, but you can grind them up and add them to a plain batch. I've done it in the past and it works very well. Run the bars over the large holes of a box type cheese grater to get your 'crumbles'. I did a plain batch equal to the weight of the salt bars and it turned out great!
