@WaxingPoetic I'm not impressed with the #43 Olive Oil wax from AccuBlend either.. it's very picky with scents - some throw, some don't .. it needs to be tweaked a lot.. I think it definitely needs more paraffin.. according to one of the wax makers at AccuBlend, this wax also contains coconut, soy and a small amount of paraffin.. and THERE'S NO WAY this is a no cure wax.. no vegetable wax is .. bad marketing imo

Yeah, it would take a much larger amount of paraffin I think ! I believe that Dulceria has a no cure soy wax too, I was thinking that sounded odd also, because soy definitely needs cure time in my experience. But yeah, not impressed with the olive oil wax at all, either. It’s hands down the worst burning wax I’ve ever tried

  2. I want to add that I ( out of curiosity & while standing right beside it, watching cautiously ) lit my other one with the wooden wick. The flame was perfect at first, but literally 3 minutes later, burned down so far that it completely extinguished the flame. So, in my experience, this wax is not wood wick friendly.

I do understand though that wood wicks are inconsistent all on their own. But this wax is not impressive at all to me. I’m glad that I only purchased the 10 lbs. on a good note, it didn’t smoke like crazy like last night. There was also another largish ‘ crack ‘ underneath the wick this time, too.

I noticed that the candles in this wax that give me these issues have those cracks in the wax when I start burning. Again, I did warm the vessels before pouring, & also insulated them, so they did cool slowly, which I heard is supposed to prevent the cracking of this wax, but it didn’t seem to do the trick for me.

I’ve done this as a hobby / for gifts for about 15 years or so, & used many different waxes, from para soy to coconut apricot. I would say that even the waxes I don’t prefer have pros & cons. But this particular wax is frustrating to me.it looks creamy & beautiful after heat gunning the tops, but the burning of them has been horrendous, imo.

  3. I’m currently testing the one from Dulceria. It’s very odd. I poured 6 of them yesterday. All different scents, all the same vessel. I used cdn 6 wicks in 4 of them & small wooden wicks with boosters in the other two. 8% FO load.

I followed the directions to a t, & warned the vessels so that they would cool slowly, because I heard that the wax gets cracks in it if not cooled slowly.

I tried burning one of the wooden wicked candles last night & it was concerning. It burned way too far down way too fast & huge crack in the wax while burning. I blew it out & the wick was smoking & the glowing still, so I had to put the lid on until it properly extinguished, but I believe that it was a fire hazard. Also, the wooden wick was all black & scorched, not just regular burned looking, like when used in other waxes, so that was concerning to me.

I immediately lit one with the cdn wick, & that one also burned way too far down & a huge crack in the wax, & the flame was just way too large. I was afraid that it would get dangerous so I blew that one out. Again, it smoked a lot & I had to put the lid on it.

I lit another cdn wicked one about two hours ago, it’s still burning & no issues so far, pretty good throw. Some tunneling, but I think that the wick is just too small. I’ll try to test more simply for testing purposes, but I certainly won’t be repurchasing.

i urge anyone who tries to this to definitely stay very close when testing & I really wouldn’t advise using a wooden wick with this wax, or at least be extremely careful if you do, I don’t sell, I do this for a hobby & gifts for friends & family & I would NEVER feel comfortable giving anyone a candle made from this wax, based on my experiences last night.

So that’s my experience so far.

  4. I have & I adore them ! I haven’t tried them in wax yet but I like her dupe oils mostly & I like them for perfumes. I have her dupe of Love, Don’t Be Shy ( Orange Whip & Marshmallow, I think they call it ) Angels Share ( Cognac & Spiced Praline - extra obsessed with this one ! ), Delina Exclusif ( Turkish Rose & Lychee ) & Montale Roses Vamille ( I believe that one is called Sugared Rose Petals ).

I have decants of Love, Don’t Be Shy & Delina Exclusif ( the actual perfumes, I mean ) & her dupe for Delina is pretty much spot on ! Her Love dupe is extremely close, not exact, but I actually prefer the dupe. It’s smoother, if that makes sense ? Not as sharp as Love can be in the beginning.

I haven’t tried the originals of Angels Share or Roses Vanille yet, so I can’t say how close hers are to those, but regardless, I love, love, LOVE them ! The Cognac & Spiced Praline is addictive. The most beautiful, spiced deep vanilla fall & winter gourmand.

The Sugared Rose Petals is a strong, jammy rose & a gorgeous vanilla. Not really a safe blind buy for a larger bottle, but I think it’s beautiful.

Her Sol De Janeiro dupe is by far the most spot on I’ve tried. I genuinely would not be able to tell the difference side by side in a blind test. I do have some others but I haven’t tested them yet. A few of my small sample bottles I’ve purchased are flops, at least for me, but it’s a matter of preference, of course.

The Don’t Marsh My Mallow, for example - to me, it smells absolutely nothing like marshmallow, so it was disappointing to me. Dessert Table is yummy as can be ! You definitely get the white chocolate notes & it’s delicious smelling.

I got Burnt Vanilla Bean Sugar ( I think I got the name wrong but very close, lol ) & that one smells very nice. Banana - Fana is a nice candied banana scent, but I haven’t used it yet. Her shipping times vary, but nothing too bad. Last time I ordered last month, it shipped the same day.

I think that their dupes are where they shine the most, so if those interest you, I would definitely give them a try :)

I would try cds and lx wicks see how you like them. It’s really about testing the wicks and wax combos before you get magic combo. If CDN small flame, try wicking up one, or two. Then test against cd and lx. I just tested cdn versus cd, and not much difference to me, so I would try wicking up and burn two hours. What yr jar type, and have you tried different fragrances? Some fragrance are PITB (pain in the butt). I like to try wicks with a couple fragrances before making decision.

I've tried quite a few different fragrances, & as for the jars, they range from 9 oz straight sided jars to Aura vessels from WW Co. I've tried so many different cdn & wood wicks in both so far. I did try wicking up on the cdn's, but still get the tiny flame...maybe not right off the bat sometimes, but definitely by the second or third burn. I'll likely move on to the cd next, but I'll need to order a sample pack, since I only have 16's at the moment. I feel like those would definitely be a disaster in the straight sided jars, lol. I wouldn't even attempt that.

Thanks so much for the reply ! Wick testing is my least favorite part of this craft 😖🤣

  6. I would have to say wood wicks...which, ironically, I absolutely love, when they work right. But they are soooo inconsistent for me ! I could trim to the same height, with the same size of wood wick, from the same supplier, in the same vessel, with the same fo (with the same percentage ), in 3 candles & one could drown out or barely have a flame, one could be burning so out of control / high that I need to put it out, & the other could burn perfectly. It's wild. They would likely be my wick of choice for most waxes otherwise.

  7. Hi, everyone ! Well, I've been playing around with my coconut 83 & coco apricot waxes & omg, the wicking issues ! I purchased a few sizes of cdn wicks, because I read that they work really well in coconut waxes, but no matter which size I use, the flames are TINY, almost like they are drowning out ? I do realize that it's all about testing & what works for some may not work for others, but I'm interested in hearing which wicks you guys have had luck with in these waxes ?

I have some cd wicks, but I doubt that I have the right size, since I read to wick way down in coco waxes. I also have some premier wicks, some zincs, some LX, & a sample pack of wood wicks. The wood wicks seem to burn too fast, though, even at the smallest size. I'm not giving up on these waxes because I LOVE the hot throw once cured & the beautiful creamy, smooth appearance.

I appreciate all of this! I am looking to try this wax as well. I’m in Ohio and my shipping from Maryland Wax Club is better too so appreciate that tip! I will keep an eye out and look forward to trying the coco apricot 😎

Well, hi neighbor ! PA here ! Yeah, usually the coco apricot that I’ve seen ships from California & that’s a long trek to us, lol. Hope you can get your hands on the coco apricot soon, I think you’ll love it !

When you find a great wick for coconut83 in your fo and jar yes it can throw very well.

Not as clean as apricot. But not as expensive as apricot yet.

If I had to pick between the two I would stick with apricot. But the availability and pricing make it less attractive for me. And I have several hundred pounds of old Coco83, C3 and palm wax to use up.

Awesome, this is all great info, thank you so much !! Yes, I usually see coco apricot wax for around $145 per 44 lbs. I’m hoping to catch it when Maryland Wax Club gets it back in stock, because it’s $120 through them, plus for me, the shipping is a good bit cheaper ( I did a mock order ) like by half ! So that’s a place you might want to check time from time for the coco apricot ! I’m definitely loving it. Those beautiful, smooth tops & that throw, I’m in love 🥰😂

Eh,  just pour it. It’s pretty forgiving. It tends to be whatever it’s going to be very quickly regardless of temperatures.

I don’t ever use it alone. I either mix with beeswax or palm or soy. Each box is different in what it needs. No matter what the additive I hate to 200 add fragrance and pour.

    my

latest coco83 gets cavities/sinkholes even alone with no adds, so it’s far from perfect.

Ah, that is definitely helpful to know ! Maybe I’ll grab some soy to add in there soon, thank you ! Does the coconut 83 still throw well, I hope ? That’s the main reason I got it. My IGI 6006 is not throwing anywhere near as good as my parasoys usually do, so I’m on the hunt for a great thrower.

I’ve been testing my coco apricot wax a few days sooner than recommended ( I’m terribly impatient 😩 ) & I’m so pleased with the throw ! And most of these are in small jars ( 9 Oz straight sided jars ) & it’s still crazy impressive

No matter how crappy a coco83 batch is, I find it better to work with than the best of other waxes. It’s like they lace it with phthalates, lol.

Lol that’s good to know ! I’ve been testing my coco apricot & loving it so far, & I tend to read more raves about coconut 83, so I’m very excited to work with it ! I may wait to pour until next week though, since we have a stretch of 90 degree days coming up here soon

Tough question given how much coco83 varies in composition from lot to lot. Generally 3-4 days min before lighting.

Thank you so much for replying ! Okay, I’ll likely give it at the very least 5 to 7 days, then. I super appreciate the reply !

  13. I’m just curious how long you guys prefer to cure your coconut 83 candles for ? I’m very new to this wax, & I haven’t even gotten a chance to pour any yet. I’ve read anywhere from 3 days to a week, as opposed to 2 to 3 weeks for the coco apricot wax.

  14. Okay, guys - I got my package the other day, & haven’t poured any of these yet, but cannot WAIT to try some of these in wax ! These are solely OOB takes, for now.

Old Fashioned Candy Apple - at first sniff, I was like wtf is this ? 😂 But it really does smell like candy apple to me, just heavier on the ‘ candy ‘ as opposed to CS, which, to me, is heavier on the apple. I LOVE this one & cannot wait to pour it !

I love it just as much as CS’s, but in a different way. I got both candied apple oils to try alone, as well as the typical carnival blend a lot of vendors do ( with cotton candy & funnel cake ) so I’ll update when I get them in wax, too.

Sea Salt & Coconut - very heavy on the sea salt, but you can definitely pick up the coconut, too. This comes off as very ‘ fresh ‘ or clean, at least to me. It’s nice. Not sure I’ll do a fb, but I can’t really say that until it’s tested in wax.

Ice Cream Party - ice cream oils never smell like ice cream to me, even when I love the oil ( like WSP Cake Batter Ice Cream, for example ) but this definitely gives walking into a Coldstone Creamery vibes & I love it.

Will probably blend with Midwest’s vanilla waffle cone. If it’s a good thrower, this will be a fb purchase for sure.

Banana Pudding - this is spot on & just luscious ! Can’t wait to get it poured / tested !

Autumn Magic - Eh…just is just ‘ meh ‘ to me, but I do realize that OOB can be very different than a poured candle or melt, so I’ll try it, regardless. I don’t hate it, but it just smells like walking into a craft store in the fall. Very heavy on the cinnamon with not much else. Will definitely update if it’s different in wax, though.

Pumpkin Cider - THIS, on the other hand, is amaaaaazing smelling 🥰 I’ve never had pumpkin cider ? But this is definitely what I imagine it smelling like. If it throws well, this will definitely be a fb purchase for fall.

Pineapple Sherbet - Not really getting sherbet, but it’s only an OOB impression so far, so that might change in wax. So far, just a sweet pineapple. Very pleasant. Nothing mind blowing or unique.

Tropical Vacation - Pineapple heavy. Very nice, juicy, fruity. Definitely tropical. Not gonna lie, though…comparing this to my recent samples from TFC ? Their Cairn’s Sunset blows this out of the water.

Sugar - This is nice. It smells more vanilla than anything. It actually smells a lot like a birthday cake oil I used to have ? I’m thinking maybe WSP ? Not exactly, but it puts me in the mind of it. It would be nice to add a little pop of sweetness to a blend that needs it. Nothing I need a fb of anytime soon.

I'm interested! I have ordered some samples from them before and it seems I liked them fine but they just never became one of my main suppliers. CS has a candy apple that I love but I might have to try the one you got too.

I have to say, I got my CS samples yesterday & I fully agree with you, their candy apple is excellent, at least my OOB impression ! Can’t wait to get some poured & test it in wax. I’m sort of kicking myself for not getting a bigger bottle.

My Northwood order looks like it’ll be here tomorrow, so yay !

If you can hold off I think they're having a sale in July. They have great sales with 25% off and free shipping if you order $100 which adds up to only $75 after the discount. You can't beat their sales.

OMG that sounds great ! I will definitely hold off, thanks so much for the heads up !!

I like Northwood. I have ordered from them several times. I'm about to put their Harvest Moon, Blueberry Lavender, Mulberry, and Huckleberry Harvest in wax today and will keep you updated on how they do. I LOVE the smell of the Huckleberry! Their Sugar Cookie is a good one. Glazed Donuts was okay, but not strong enough for me. Their Farmhouse Christmas has great reviews. I have it, but havent used it in anything yet. I was disappointed that I began with this company to try the ribbon and cottonwood  wicks and then both were discontinued!

This sounds so promising, thank you for relying !! How did I miss blueberry lavender, omg ?? That sounds amazing !

I feel so stupid right now 😂 I actually checked my CS order confirmation & I did add their candy apple to my order of samples 😂 I should probably slow down on the ordering, when I’ve ordered so much that I can’t remember what I just bought, lol. But I know that won’t stop me. Really excited to try these two candy apple oils !

It's so wonderful! The one I've poured is from Fragrance Buddy but several suppliers have it. It's SO good! Want me to send you a sample?

That is so sweet of you to offer, thank you !! But I’m actually taking that recommendation for FB as a sign to place an order soon, because I’ve been debating that lately anyway 😂 so I’ll just be sure to add that one to the order

Now I'm going to have to get their key lime and cocoa butter cashmere! I may actually already have them LOL! I need to check.

I'm in love with Fall scents and they're my favorite type to pour. I never get tired of them! I'm drooling over pumpkin peanut brittle in my melter right now!

Omg that pumpkin peanut brittle sounds amazing !!
