  1. I am ashamed to say this, but I never read the directions on candle jars and abused them in every single way until I developed an interest in making them. I never allowed a full melt pool and blamed tunneling on the manufacturer (didn't even know tunneling was the proper word for this). Never trimmed wicks or any other rules. I was horrible. I bet there's a pile of other candle users that do the same. When I start selling, I'm going to make sure to educate EVERYONE on the proper use of candles. I'm already educating family and friends. My mom and sister didn't know the "rules" either, and I'm ashamed to say, but we are fairly educated people, hell....I have a master's degree. lol And we all have always loved candles.
  2. Lol, I'm more guilty of blowing the candle out.....all the time. Hahaha
  3. Hahaha, yep, I have totally forgot that. I have witnessed a close friend do that many times. Smh
  4. How many ounces are the dollar tree cube and the dollar tree "libby" jars?
  5. Thank you bunches!! I'll look at theirs right now. I think I already have and liked theirs the best.
  6. That's what l'll do then. Thank you so much!
  7. I don't use the wax you use but recently tried Natures Gardens blueberry muffin fo in their joy wax they carry which is a soy/par blend and it was an awesome blueberry scent.
  8. I know y'all are probably getting tired of my questions, but again I am totally new at all of this. If I ever get good enough to locally sale any of my candles, it seems that if I order warning labels, they will not fit smoothly on the bottom of mason jars because of some raised printing on the glass. If they fit on the bottom of the lids would it be ok to put them there? And do the plain jelly jars have this print on the bottom? Thanks, Pam
  9. These ideas have helped wonderfully and are exactly what I needed and was looking for!! Thank you so much for this newbie at candles and also at label making!!
  10. Thanks, these kraft labels look exactly like what I'm talking about. I have no experience in making labels, but am a quick learner. Just need to buy a printer thats cheap on ink and compatible with printing them now.
  11. This is the 1803 Candle example I was speaking of. And the almost paper sack looking label material too. But I would want round labels for top of my jar lid.
  12. Not sure if this is the right section for this but could not find another. What are reasonable recommendations for jar or jar lid labels? Is it cheaper to make your own? If so, what printer do you recommend because I would need to buy one. Or is it cheaper to have someone make them for you like vistaprint? I do not know what you call them or where you would even by the blank ones, but I like they country looking ones that look kinda of like they are printed on paper sack type material or something similiar to it. Anything really that is simple and cheap. I even like the simple labels that 1803 Candles use. They use a small round sturdy label with a small hole punch and elastic band around the top of the containers and then and very small sticky label with scent name attached to container. Any suggestions appreciated. Even if you sale your services I'm interested. Thanks, Pam
  13. To me it isn't, but you may find it is. It's a soft sweet scent in my opinion. Or it could be that I'm simply just tickled that I've finally made my first successful candle. lol
  14. Just thought I'd let everyone know this scent is outstanding after a two week cure in Golden wax 464. Mulberry lovers must try this one. I know I broke the rule for most, but I did 2 ounces pp wax. My mother has a huge living room and it smelled the entire room and most of her large one story home. I have a very very small 2 bedroom home and it smelled my entire house. It's a strong, but yet soft hot throw and nice, but not as strong, cold throw as well. I used a cd 12 wick in a 9 oz hexagon jar, but in the future, once I use these jars up, I am going to use 8 oz mason jars from local dollar store to save shipping charges. I'm thinking a cd 10 wick will work for that size jar. If I were selling candles, I have a feeling this one would be a number 1 seller!! Being a new candle maker, and this being my first successful candle, I am VERY proud of myself. Can't you tell? lol
  15. Second opinions and sometimes 3rd is always best!! Especially when they want to cut on your spine. I receive injections now. For me, they are wonderful for about two weeks and thats it, but everyone is different. I get them every 6 weeks. Some people can get by with far less. Again, keep me posted and thank you
  16. I was wondering how many ounces of fo people typically find work best in the golden wax 464 and if they use any additives such as vybar, stearic acid, crisco, coconut oil or anything else. Does anyone use 2 oz of fo pp? I am new at this. Thanks.
  17. Oh my, I will keep your sister in my prayers. Please keep me posted. In a private message if you would prefer. If you or your sister need to call me, I will not mind giving you my phone number as well. Dealing with chronic back pain is not fun and can lead to a road of very deep depression, as with I'm sure anyone with any type of disability and pain issues. Again, please keep me posted and I'm here if you need me. Thank you for your support and inspiration!
  18. I am going to make clam shells to. I have ordered the natures garden pillar bliss wax to try my hand at that since their site has high reviews using that wax with it. They sound really easy to make. Everyone on this site sounds so inviting and warm. I look forward to sharing my journey with everyone and learning with each of you!
