Well, I've been testing new wax blends & added the dye to the FO & then added the FO to the wax @185 or so with two of them. Another I added directly to the wax after adding the FO, same temps. I've been using liquid dye from RE/AH.
-
I've been working on some wax melts today & I noticed that the dye wasn't blending well. One batch was was a little off & another one was really off. I didn't realize until the batch was almost completely poured that much of the dye was still in the bottom of the container. Is the dye just old? What's going on? I stir, stir, stir. It's not from a lack of stirring. I don't like using chips because I never can seem to get them fully melted.

Sleigh Ride and Joyeux Noel are two more that I like in the Christmas scents. Merlin's forest to me is a fall sort of scent. Oregon Pine - love this one year round.
Who makes these FOs, if you don't mind me asking?

That sounds so good!

Thank you for the replies. I forgot I actually do have a Witches Brew. I'll have to dig it out. The Christmas tree/pine should have been a no-brainer. I guess I just want to eat everything.

I realized that most of my FOs for Fall & Winter are foodie type scents. Do you have any recommendations for other scents? I love my bakery & food fragrances, obv., but I think I should expand my variety a little bit.

The Palm and 464 would be good.
Thanks again!

Sorry, one more question, would either of these blends be good for wax brittle?

Yes, they are real. My first test package is the photo. Not sure how I like it?? ? I didn't have any bags the right size, but I did have some sheets of polypro so I cut into wide strips, laid the two pcs in an X, put the melt in the center and pulled the sides up to tie off. You can smell them well like this but not sure I'm loving it.
These look amazing! <3

At least a week to test for me

Oh, how long do y'all cure your wax?
-
I'm thinking of someone different then, she changed to having RTS all the time instead of the closing & restocking. There are so many wax vendors on FB & in general.
I won't use vybar again. I tried it previously & even though I'm sure my wax wasn't any good anyway, it was far too easy for me to accidentally add way too much. I added a TB instead of, like, 1/4 tsp or however much it's supposed to be. Oops.

You're welcome! I don't think you'll be disappointed with 4625. I've used it alone and it does well that way too in molds. One very popular vendor uses it straight in her tarts and she has a very good following. At least her tarts look like that's what they are and I really think she uses it alone. I've compared mine to hers and they look the same.
Would this be a "super" vendor that states you don't have to cure her wax?

I've used 4625 mixed with 6006 and had good results. Not I use 4625 with 4630 and sometimes KY's tart wax, whichever I have on hand. Just when I think I've made up my mind I switch LOL!
I tried Pillar of Bliss once and didn't care for it personally. I do like 6006 though and I think if you blended it with 4625 you would have get a good throw.
Thanks! I think I'll experiment with both the palm blends & the 4625 blends. They have to be better than the PoB.
I don't know why I didn't give up on Pillar of Bliss much sooner. I'm stubborn I guess. In other groups people say it's awesome so I though it was me & that I needed to figure out what I was doing wrong, but after all this time I don't think it's me any more.
-
Oh, okay. Palm really is a pretty wax. I did try a palm wax before the PoB, I forgot. I think I must have used the wrong type at the time, maybe container... it was difficult to remove. I can't recall much else about it though. It was a long time ago. Then I was told that PoB was the way to go & I've been trying to work with it ever since. Meh.

I don't think I've heard of glass glow palm. Then again, I hadn't heard of most of the other types either not that long ago. :-)
Are you going back to your usual feather palm & 464 once you use up your glass glow palm or do you plan to keep using it?

I've tried working with Pillar of Bliss on & off for almost two years now & I'm throwing in the towel. I have twenty unused pounds of it, not counting what's in my melting pot, but I'm done. I get no consistent throw & that's when I have any throw at all. I kept trying, but it just doesn't work for me. Yeah, I know, I'm a slow learner. I have a few pounds of 6006. Can anyone recommend a wax or waxes to blend with that for melts? Or should I start completely from scratch with different wax? I really need some advice. I have craft shows coming up soon & no wax products in stock.

It was odd to me. It was definitely not 1/2oz. Most of what I had sent her were scent shots & little bits were chipped out. *shrug*

Tiny bits? As in the size of a scentsy cube? Or something else?
seems people who I talk to that melt are in one of two camps: the old school Yankee types that put the whole thing on a hot melter, like the tea light type or the scentsy types who expect the size of a piece of bubble gum on the light bulb melter. Knowing which type of melter these people fall into has really helped me to market properly to them.
I'm not familiar with the size of Scentsy cubes. I guess I'm the only one left who hasn't used them. I'd venture to guess maybe 1/2 tsp? It was quite a small amount, at least to me. Plus, she apparently moved on to the next fragrance as soon as one melted; melt, discard, melt, discard, melt, discard...

Welllll, I can't count the feedback that I received for my tarts from the most recent tester. Apparently, & this is totally my fault, she didn't know she was supposed to melt them like normal. She was taking tiny bits & then melting them & judging the scent & throw as soon as they melted & then starting over with another scent. Sigh.
-
Everyone one I ask (online) says they've had good luck with it, but I seem to be the anomaly. I can't get any good throw with it. I got feedback from someone tonight who tried quite a few tarts. She said a couple didn't have any hot throw & the others only had a hot throw of between 9' & 13' from the melter, but they weren't very strong over all either. She didn't say how long she melted them though.

Walmart's Mainstays hotplate melters are good & so are plain old tea light melters.

And some people are just bullies, so there's that too.
Every supplier has hits and misses. Make the best product you can and be happy with that.
Yes, true. I've been both pleased & disappointed with all the suppliers I've placed orders with.
-
Bahaha! Lana! This is "Virginia". Too funny!
Anyway..., yeah, I'm as happy with NG as I am with any other supplier.

Thank you. Most of my FOs are from NG. I'm pretty happy using them in bath & body but was wondering if they might be an issue in wax. I'm in a FB group where a couple of people have claimed they're (NG) FOs aren't as strong. Of course one of them is constantly trying to sell his own supplies though, so there's that. :-)
Two FO deliveries today

I got orders from both Nature's Garden & Just Scent today.
I'm mostly happy with the NG order, at least OOB. I bought Spiced Cranberry, it smells mostly like sweet cinnamon & apples OOB, it's nice. Pomegranate Cider smells good, very sweet. I'm not sure about Christmas Thyme, it's kind of Pine-Sol-y OOB. Of course I had to get the traditional Christmas scent, Dill Pickle. I like it! It's like dill pickle, duh, with a creamy/floral note.
Unfortunately, I'm quite underwhelmed by the FOs from Just Scent so far OOB. I was seduced by the pictures on the website.
Peppermint Meringue reminded me a lot of WSP's Peppermint Cream. Marshmallow Bomb was so-so. I was hoping Nutmeg Spice would smell like BBW's Creamy Nutmeg, but there's something off about it to me, kind of strange. They were all weak OOB. Christmas Mulberry smelled nothing like Christmas nor mulberry. It smelled like Starburst fruit chews. My grandmother had a large mulberry tree in her yard so I know what they smell like. I've eaten my fair share of Starburst so I know what they smell like too.
