I'm making some perfume creams and bought yellow rather than white
beeswax.
Not being familiar with beeswax. I noticed when I opened the package
of yellow beeswax, it has a slight odor.
Does both yellow and white beeswax have a odor or just the yellow?
And, will this effect the fragrance of my perfume cream?

I don't add additives to my pure soy.
Thanks, I'm going to buy some 125 and see how it does.

I use the pure soy by KY.
What is the difference between the 125 and what I have used.
I mean what is it about the 125 that you like about it?

Thanks Julia, this is just what I wanted.
You said the scent really stays. That's the way it was with the
Avon perfume cream.
Does it matter what temperature I melt the beewax to or
what temperature to add the fragrance.
The way you describe doing the perfume cream just sounds
too easy to be true

Thanks everyone. I just remember my grandmother buying these
little jars from Avon and she always smelled so wonderful. And, I
really think I could sell them to the older women around here. They
have said they loved buying those little jars of perfume delights.

I'm new and I don't think I have been doing my measuring correctly after
reading the various posts.
I don't do dye or any additives except fragrance. If I doing a tester
candle of 8 oz. soy wax and 9% fragrance.....
When I measure the wax and fragrance, it will be 7.46 ozs. of
wax and .54 oz. of fragrance. This equals to 8 oz. Is this correct?

I've read on the fragrance forum that with Peak FO, it is so strong that
people don't have to use as much.
Question? Does this apply to soy wax also?

Henry, what soy waxs/suppliers are you talking about when you said,
"unless you are using one of those "advanced" soys that melt easier"

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

So, do we just live with those wet spots?
Do customers notice and comment on them?

Prior to this last Christmas, I was doing a google search on goat milk soap
and read something about soy candles. I liked supporting the farmers,
knew we needed to start substituting for petroleum because of peak
oil productions. Then I read where soy candles are pretty near soot
free. And, I could melt it in my microwave, boy, that's what I really liked.
I did a search and found Ky soy wax supply had great prices on their
soy waxes compared to other suppliers.
I ordered some stuff and starting making candles. I've made all kinds
of mistakes and am really frustrated but I love the challenge.
I started talking to the girls I work with in the school cafeteria and
they all wanted to buy my candles. I told them I am not ready. I
haven't even made a good smelling candle yet. They have been
a world of encouragement. Each want to do fundraisers for their
church. And, the school of 4,500 students want to all do fundraisers.
Then there is the fact that I live close to Hot Springs, Arkansas and
a great toursit market. Word of mouth spreads like wildfires here.
It is a kin state, if you get my drift. I got girls set up to test my
candles who have huge families and they will pass the word. Some
of the family members has those who own nail and hair salons. I even
have a woman who owns a donut shop who wants to sell my bakery
type candles in her shop. I'm going to use her to test my candles
and when the folks comes in, she will be burning Lemon Pound Cake,
Orange Chiffon, and Southern Vanilla. She says she is going to get
feedback and see if she can made those favored pounds cakes to
sell in her store. The possibilites are endless.
Now, if I could just make one good soy candle

I have read that hemp wicks burn hotter. Also, hemp wicks help the
soy candle to burn longer.
I'm new to candlemaking and I just don't want to start buying htps,
cds, and lxs, then find hemp wicks work better and have all these other
wicks wasting away not being used because the hemp wick works
better.
Has anyone used hemp wicks and your feedback of their quality vs.
other wicks, please?

what does CD stand for and what suppliers sell them?

And here's oldwillknott's superstore. Same guy but just his regular
web store. When you order, it lists various ways to ship and
gives you the price for shipping right then and there. The one I
have saved is the one he recommends for soap and candlemaking.

O.K. I looked oldwillknot up and got his website (not e-bay) and I'm
gonna buy from that ole boy. He is located in Enid, Ok and I'm just
one state away in Arkansas. He has one he keynoted as for soap
and candle making so I will just start there.
Thanks

Richard's Packaging has a place in Memphis, Tn. and Riekes in Dallas, Tx.
so that is close to Hot Springs, AR.
Do I need a Federal Tax ID Number to get pricing? What will I need to
set up an account.
Off the top of your head, what would be the pricing for the 9 oz.
Hexagon Jars with gold lids?
ThankYou

I bought off e-bay and I made a mistake. It was a Royal model and
it was inaccurate. I paid $30.49. Don't get it.
From another forum I was given a referral. I'm going to buy the Alimento
for $42.95. I hate shopping. I would rather do my shopping via the
internet.
I don't know what the rules are on this forum. Meaning, can we display
a url for a competitor. This online store has several digital scales and
the other forum I have joined, says all their scales are accurate.
If anyone wants the website address, you can private e-mail me.

Ever Hear Of Pourette Candle/Soap Supply?
in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Posted
This lady from another forum says she uses them for their fragrances and
she uses a little over 1/2 oz. FO per 1 lb. soy wax. Says their
fragrances are very strong.
You think she is pulling my leg?
