  1. Thank you Barbara. I emailed peak and they just wrote back to use htp wicks and said that these are better than lx in this wax... Grrrr... After ordering all these LX wicks because CS little tool said so !!
  2. Thank you so so much for responding... I would be willing to try a different jar, I also have a case of the 16 oz colonial jar but was thinking I would start and master one at a time... I like the look of these jars and the combo of shape of jar creamy wax and BEAUTIFUL colors but if it won't work it won't work. What are some popular choices for container candles? Do you have any recomendations?
  3. O I meant my melts for an electric warmer smell great. But sitting here next to the cold candle smells amazing ... I'm anxious to get further into the candle to see what kind of a scent throw I get... I'm just hoping to get to the point of being able to smell a good scent throw within an hour like you do with say a gold canyon or a yankee type. The last jars I had were taller than they were wide and someone said that's not good either so I'm a little confused as most of the jarred candles i see seem to be taller than wide... Can someone weigh in on this for me? Sorry to be so needy and I promise after I learn I will be here to help others!!
  4. Got it!! Lol ok so this is the end result after the second 4 hour burn . Tall... the 1.5oz was in 1.5 pounds of wax divided between the 3 candles with 8oz net weight. Trapp... First thank you thank you thank you for the encouragement... Sometimes we need a pay on the back for ANYTHING right?? Lol I redid a pour with bigger wicks because when I did a search the only things that came up was to wick up one or two so I figure I would try the next 3 lol. I have about a half inch of hangup... Like I said I have AMAZING cold throw and not very good hot throw. I am also doing melt which smell FAAAABOULOUS so I'm super excited to get the hang of the candle version! Lol thank you both so much for the any help!
  5. I am using IGI 4627 in a 8 oz Colonial Jar from Peak and lx series wicks like cs suggests. I poured 3 with 1.5 oz FO and 6 drops of dye testing lx 20 (as recommended) as well as lx 18 and lx 22 ... SOOO after curing for a week I have amazing cold throw and hardly any hot throw but I think that is because I can't get the melt pool to go out to the edges of the jar I just poured another 3 using lx 24 lx 26 and lx 28 and will have to let that cure. I am now at the end of the second 4 your test... I don't want to seem impatient... My question is should I maybe double wick and if so what size would y'all recommend for each of the 2 wicks? Or stay with one or??? does anyone have any other recommendations?

  7. OMG TALL I have been doing test burns on a pellet stove top that no longer works in the rental we live in!!! It's cold...in montana.... On a pellet stove metal! Holy crap I'm so glad you mentioned that!!!
  8. Trapper I'm not pulling my hair out yet I'm just facjnated by all the different aspects to candles ... I had no idea! I'll get there Mostly cause I'm not a quiter...and because I'm a perfectionist who loves a challenge! Thank you for all your time and responses!
  9. That is FABULOUS!!!! I have been pouring three candles and using the guideline from cs as a starting point and then going one above and one below... I almost feel like I'm wasting soooo much materials as I'm doing this with EVERY NEW SCENT! Your way sounds great! Then do you burn all the way through with the one that seems to be working?
  10. Trappeur I have been following every post that I can find of yours as we do think A LOT alike! Thank you for all that you suggest and add to any of my posts!
  11. So vicky I'm confused ... We CAN or CANNOT post business FB pages? I just want to be clear...
  12. Hey guys... I couldn't find any threads on this in the search spot so if it's already been done please forgive me. I wonder if we could all put our facebook pages and websites for our personal business'? That way we can each "like" each other's pages for numbers and support? Or is this kind of a no no? I am kinda new 'round these parts so I won't be offended if someone tells me this is a no go for whatever reason! Just thought it would be a nice way to share and support!
  13. Lol I love that vicky! I'm not giving up... Stilll testing pouring testing pouring testing pouring ... Wash rinse repeat! Lol thank you all so much for your time and expertise!!!
  14. Holy buckets...so there are NO absolutes between wax FO and wicks? Like as soon as I get JUST the right combo it can change for no apparent reason? How do people make money in this craft of you are constantly having to test 3 different wicks out of each pour?!?
  15. Fabulous idea candybee! And kandlekrazy are your short flat boxes air tight? I'm just worried about the scent lightening up over time with my melts is that not a problem with anyone?
  16. Thanks you guys. Moonshine that was one of my concerns ... I want to be able to be true to what I advertise THANK YOU Chefmom I didn't even think of something like a chopstick ... I am so blessed by EVERYONES opinions and expertise!!
  17. Hey all! I'm wondering how everyone stores their finished products, both candles and melts to make sure the scent and color etc are preserved for as long as possible. TIA
  18. Thanks so much for everyone's response I ordered some liquid dye so we shall see! I am thinking I will like it because if I'm thinking right I will be able to record and keep continuity from batch to batch for selling purposes.
  19. When pouring several of the same type/scent of product, how do you get the same predetermined amount in each jar/container or clamshell? Do you put each product one at a time on a scale? Doesn't that cause wax to cool too much for multiple pouring? Just curious what everyone does. TIA
