MORE of this salt bar. Then a lady who works with DH wants me to make her some of these

    summer-candle2.gif

With Apple Jack & Peel, Pink sugar, Blackberry Sage, Cucumber Melon, Pineapple Cilantro, and Summer Sorbet. I have to make 2 of the 48 oz Golden Harvest jars from the Dollar Store. LOVE those jars.

I have a new method of shampoo making I want to try out as well. I'm hoping I can over lap these projects and get them done all at once. It is supposed to be HOT again this weekend...not cool.

    :D

  2. Those of us who make liquid soap, shower gel, shampoos and the like......who has made it with a lye % of 3 or better? On another forum this topic came up and has me intrigued. I love the idea of NOT using borax and omitting that step all together. I have modified my recipe to reflect 3% lye usage and a 2:1 water ratio instead of the 3 that Failor uses. I am working it small with just a 16 oz batch to start. Don't want to blow up the house in a huge fashion afterall.....:D Anyone who has done this can so give some input and or advice. I would love it. Thanks so much.

  3. I wear pink sugar everyday. People want to know what it is that smells so good and freak when I tell them my hair conditioner. I like Warm Vanilla sugar, Very Sexy and Hugo for women.

I'm looking to have about 20 different selections I think. Right now I offer

    Pink Sugar

    Coconut Lemongrass

    Bamboo Sugar Cane

    Lovely (which everyone gags at....)

    Japanese Pear & Ginseng

    Ambra de Nepal

I think too many candle fragrances just don't work as perfume...so any input would be wonderful.

  4. OK...You can read all day long about % used when it comes to EOs. I've read where you should NEVER use more than 1% or 2% or 3%...I have used them for years and years and find that 2.5% is a great amount to use. I made a doggy soap last night with an eo blend and for the 16 oz test batch I used 2.5% which was 0.4 oz of EO. :D The peppermint and eucalyptus is one of my favorites.

  5. I just made my test batch of phunky puppy. Amazingly enough it smells pretty darn good. My SIL and I haven't always seen eye to eye but lately something in the water is changing things. She has 2 mini greyhounds and they absolutely ROCK. The angels have super dry skin and nothing seems to work for them SO.....I made soap. I made a fairly simple recipe and added neem, kelp powder, ground oatmeal, unscented lotion, along with cedarwood, lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus and peppermint eos. The kelp powder and neem made it a very pretty, dark brown color. It will lighten with time, of course, but I am still happy with it. I can't wait to try it out.

    :D

  6. Julia...My sil has 2 miniture greyhounds with real dry skin. She asked for soaps for her princesses. I've looked and looked and finally came up with this....

    1# TEST BATCH

    6.08 OZ CANOLA 38%

    4.80 OZ COCONUT 30%

    4.48 OZ LARD 28%

    0.64 OZ NEEM OIL 4%

    4.48 OZ LIQUID (2:1 RATIO)

    2.24 OZ LYE (7%)

    0.32 OZ KELP POWDER 2%

    4 OZ GROUND OATMEAL

    39 20 55 20 19 64 143 SOAP CALC VALUES.....

    14 GRAMS EO BLEND

I am going to blend Cedarwood, Lavender, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint eos for this one. I am going to try and make it tonight after the World Cup game.

    :D

  7. My BEST EVER has almond BUTTER, avocado OIL, hemp BUTTER, monoi 45%, olive and sunflower. LOVE it!!!! Monoi is nice nice nice. Monoi, coconut, palm kernel, babassu are all cleansing oils. I have found using less lye (say 8 or 9%) is often better for those who experience dryness with coconut and the like.

    :D

Anhoki, what other oils did you use? The Monoi is really "cleansing" right? I'm thinking it would make for a harsh bar, but since so far I've made one unimpressive batch of soap I cannot say I know anything at all !
