  1. Hibiscus,

Thank you for starting this thread! Please, please, PLEASE post pics of your beaded flowers when you are done. I had gotten a book on how to do it after you posted those last pics, and I didnt really like the flowers the book offered, so I never played around with it.

For Christmas, I am definitely wanted to make several of those Knifty Knitter snowman that Provo Crafts website has. Id put the link here for everybody to see, but I dont know how:( .

Also, probably alot of various hats and scarves. Every winter for at least the last 5 years, I start getting requests from friends and family for crocheted stuff, but this year I will use the Knifty Knitter. Last year, I crocheted a Christmas colored toddler afghan for both Ava and one for her best friend. I also want to try another Christmas lap quilt with Ava pics on it for my parents. My fiancees parents got one last year.

Oh, and my goal is to finally come up with a slipper pattern (either crocheting, knitting, or sewing) that I can actually do; lol!!! Socks are my Achilles heel:laugh2: !

I think I also want to make Ava's Christmas dress for portraits this year, so I maybe asked you all for help sometime soon:grin2: .

Of course, projects will come up every time I go to the craft store and see something else. Last year, I bought some expensive blue/silver snowflake brocade fabric to make a diaper bag on a whim. I hardly ever used the bag because I wasnt happy with how it turned out. I do have some ideas for winter-y type purses that I want to try as gifts. I dont want the purses to turn out too cutesy though.

And, Ill want to make Ava lots of things. Winter is my favorite time of year, and I just melt at all the cute winter baby things. I have some cute penguin flannel fabric I never used last year that I will have to make into something. I have two friends that are pregnant right now, and one is due on Dec, 10. Im already starting on making her stuff.

All in all, i dont have any plans for anything amazing, just normal stuff. But, Im sure that will change:p !

  2. Tallbabydoll,

Yep, thats exactly how you are supposed to use the purple loom for making blankets. Just make however many panels you need, and sew them together. Id use the same yarn as in the blanket to sew instead of thread. Lemme know how it turns out! I also need to make two baby blankets for two expecting friends I have.

  3. Im sorry I keep posting pics of my knitted stuff; I am always dying to finish a project so I can show everybody here! This set is a gift for my daughters best friend who turns 2 next week (Ava turns 2 tomorrow!). The purse was in another thread I posted the other day, but the matching tank and shrug are new. I tried it on Ava, and it looks so cute on!

  4. Been busy with my Knifty Knitter. Here are my finished projects for the last week.

    1. Knitted small red purse with flower button. A gift for my daughter's friend.

    2. Knitted short-sleeve sweater. Also a gift for my daughter's friend.

    3. Knitted ball with bells inside so it rattles.

    4. Crocheted skinny "ocean" scarf.

    5. Knitted Belted Sweater jacket for Ava.

6 & 7. Striped tank and matching shrug for Ava.

Its very weird to be working with all this yarn in the middle of an AZ summer, but we are in the middle of monsoon season, so it doesnt seem too bad. Im having so much fun with these looms; only had them about two weeks now.

  5. Does anybody know how to do this? I wrote down all my instructions and tips for a Knifty Knitter baby sweater. Since I couldnt find a single one when I was researching, I thought I should post my pattern somewhere for somebody else to be able to use. Any of you know of a place to do this? I dont really know anything about blogs.

    Thanks in advance,

    Linaya

  6. Ive been wanting to make sweaters forever, but can never get it quite right with crocheting. I was able to do this with the Knifty Knitter. I wish I could have found a pattern, but after my internet searches all came up with SQUAT, I had to wing it! As always, modeled by my daughter Ava who turns 2 in just a week!

    Thanks for looking,

    Linaya

  7. Wow, thats gorgeous! Im also working on a bigger than normal knitting project right now (a white and silver shawl for my sisters wedding). My personal recommendation would be to leave it as it, because adding fabric will add bulk, and usually knitting is thick enough on its own. You could do a knitted back, if the knitting is a loose weave or if you are wanting to add some bulk to it. Since its so big, im thinking that by adding anything will make it very heavy. Just my thoughts. Great job on it, I gotta say:yay: !

    HTH,

  8. There are special heat-safe wineglasses you can get for candlemaking. Two years ago, I ordered 1/2 a dozen from a no-name supplier that were specially formulated glass to withstand the heat from a wick. I still have a few of the glasses, and re-made candles for myself in them a few times. Havent had a crack yet, but I never make a re-used container candle for anyone except myself.

  9. I also have caught the "knitting bug" lately! A few days ago, I went to Walmart with the intention of getting either a Knifty Knitter or regular knitting needles. Ive have completely forgotten how to knit (I liked to crochet better), so I was going to need alot of instructions. I decided to get a $12 "I taught myself to knit" set. It has really good instructions, for both left and right hands, and about 16 easy and beginner projects.

I got so bored with how slow I was at knitting with regular needles, that my fiancee took me to Michaels to get the Knifty Knitter. I LOVE THIS THING!!! In 24 hours Ive made a baby hat, baby booties, 2 fancy diaper covers, and a knitted stuffed ball. I would recommend getting a $1 extra Knifty Knitter pamphlet; the directions are MUCH clearer. In fact, Im pretty sure I couldnt have figured it out if I only used the instructions that came in the set. The patterns arent great, though.I did alot of internet seraches to get more patterns, and saved them to a folder on my computer.

  10. Made these for Ava over the weekend. Supposed to have a matching top, but that didnt go as well as the pants (I HATE sleeves!):sad2: . Didnt use a pattern for these either; just kind of eye-balled a pair of her best-fitting pj pants as my guide. Since she is almost two and still wears size 6 months pants (but size 12-18 months shirts), I have a hard time shopping for her. Especially pants.

    ( I love Ava's expression in the 1st pic!)

  11. Made from just 2 Strawberry Shortcake bandanas my mom bought for Ava on the last trip to CO. She tried to give me instructions on how to make an easy dress out of them, but I couldnt seem to grasp how to do it myself. So, I decided to do my own design. No patterns or templates or using a sewing machine, barely even measured stuff, and it fits perfectly! This definitely a project that I got lucky on. The only thing that didnt quite come out right was where the two sides of the zipper meet in the back. Put a zipper in the top because this fabric isnt stretchy and wouldnt fit over her head if I didnt. Next time, Ill probably go 1" shorter on the skirt; this one is just a "skotch" too long.

What do you think? Is is decent enough for her to wear in public?

Oh, and the last pic was taken right after she finished dinner last night. Doesnt pertain to this thread at all; I just had to show you all this pic anyway!
