  1. Yes! Thank you, Jcandleattic! Her oil post is exactly what I was looking for! The rest of her blog is quite fantastic too
  2. i think i'm looking for a glossary... feel like deleting this post but i don't know if i can...
  3. I'm looking for a book or website that lists every butter, oil, preservative, etc that can be used to make sugar scrubs. Is something like that available? I know I could find that individually online but it would be very time consuming but I also don't know how many different types of preservatives there are and why adding certain oils would be great for your skin and so forth TIA for any help
  4. I wanna say that it's year round here in the desert but I seldom go since it's too expensive for me to shop there every week. Right now there's 3 a week and 4 on the first week of a new month. They've recently started doing an evening farmers market from 4-8 pm last month.
  5. Old Glory: Will do! I'll go read that post right now. Trappeur: Honestly, I think I just picked up bad habits from old users from like 2005 around here while researching lol. I just started testing wicks the way they were testing them... Luckily you two have set me straight early enough and I'll be more efficient. So thank you!
  6. I thought I could start testing earlier since I'm only testing the wick... At least that's what I've read on here then let them cure for 2 weeks when testing with FO and or dye. thx Old Glory, I'll start doing that
  7. I've been trying to wick this size tin for over a month now. I have 3 possible wicks ECO 4,6 and 8 that all seem to work fine but something weird always happens at some point... ECO 4: Everything was awesome till there was about 1.5oz of wax left then the flame started flickering and getting real small. There was still plenty of wick left but it just started extinguishing itself prematurely. This was with just 464 wax, no FO or dye. Testing again but with FO in wax this time and see how it goes ECO 6 and 8: Putting these 2 together because other than the 8 having a slightly bigger flame they both performed the same. I left these candles cure for a day since i was just wick testing, 464 no FO or dye. First burn, after 3 hours both tins were completely melted. I blow them out and let them rest for several hours, about 5 hrs. I then light both again and after 3 hrs they're burning better than the 1st time! Both candles aren't completely melted, they have a nice MP and the tins aren't as hot as the 1st time when the candles were completely melted.. So can any of you make sense of what happened? Cuz I have no clue I'm testing all 3 wicks again but with dye and FO .5oz pp. I love testing! /s
  8. I'm fairly new to candlemaking and have no experience working with tumblers only tin containers and 464 wax so far. I'm currently using premier 767 and 790. To me it sounds like you need to wick down. The only time the flame on either premier wick starts flickering is if there's a draft in the room otherwise it's great. Also, the only time I noticed the flame was really big was when I had a Pre 790 wick in my 4oz container but am now using an ECO 4 wick and getting great results so far in my 4oz. Hope this helps But I second with Candybee. down to Old Glory on premier wicks haha. She knows her stuff
  9. How do you know? Also, what do you do with all the empty bottles? can they be recycled?
  10. FO finally arrived today. I like both juicy watermelon and monkey farts. JW gives off a sweet scent that you'd smell in a candy but we'll see how they turn out once in candles. The sweet orange and chili pepper is pretty strong, you immediately smell the orange right away and now the free FO I received. I should've read more carefully and said which free FO I wanted because they let you choose but I didn't and ended up getting their key lime pie which just smells nasty. Too much of an egg smell that made me wanna gag
  11. OK, thx for the info, Candybee. Guess I'll make some tealights with the 3mm tabs.
  12. Well... I've put in in order for some 20 x 6 mm wick tabs and some 3.8 mm ones cuz might as well test those too!
  13. I'll try an oz pp again. Maybe it was the FO but I used 1oz pp of nag champa and both 767 & 790 wicks nearly extinguished after about 2 hrs. I just turned em off out of frustration. I did nothing different from all my other candles and they all relatively burned fine, not perfect but not that bad... Cold throw is great but candles won't last more than an hour and a half before they go downhill. I've got some more FO arriving tomorrow I think so I'll try again otherwise I'll stick to half an oz pp. To me the HT was good at half an oz pp as I don't really like overpowering scents where they just hit you smack dab in the face every time but that may just be me idk Also, are the premier wick tabs from aztec not already 6mm? I'm trying to measure and check but my only ruler is only in inches, rubber and pretty crappy too. I can't find the sizing on aztec either.
