Good idea! I always keep a large stack of shop towels on hand to use as pot holders/cleaners.

Hey there! Take an old cookie sheet and line it with a layer of newspapers then a layer of paper towels. Place your pot(s) upside down on the cookie sheet. Place on the lowest rack in your oven set to 150-175 degrees F. Once things heat up most of the wax will drip off on to your cookie sheet. Wipe out the residue with old rags or paper towels.

Nice start, but are you doing them upside down? One of them has drapes pointing upwards.
Ha! Good catch. I kept looking at that candle and couldn't quite figure out what was off. Great candles, BTW! Especially great as it was your first attempt.

hmmm...very interesting. Thanks for the links scottopuss!

Thanks David. That's what I figured.

Thanks for the replies. I am very familiar with the palm wax brands that you mention. In fact I only use the Strahl and Pitsch palm because I find it to be the best/most consistent on the market.
My OP was referring to something called crystal soy wax. I have never seen it but have recently heard about it. I would like to know if anyone has experience with this wax. Is it available from a supplier or is it a home-blend.

This wax has popped up on my radar screen. Has anyone heard of it before? I tried googling and did not come up with much. Perhaps it is a combo of soy and palm?

With all due respect to the opinions of others, I would encourage you not to jump to the conclusion that the product sucks. Every wax is used very successfully by some people, and every wax is a failure for some people. I think you're better off in terms of time, money and advancing your expertise by experimenting further with the Eco-Soya and learning how to make work for you. There is no miracle wax out there. If you don't stop and learn to troubleshoot and get the most out of your materials, it will be all the more frustrating when you find out what the problems are with your NEXT wax.
This bears repeating. Excellent advice!

Henryk, I had the same issue with the new CB Advanced. It is really strange because it doesn't happen to every container. Typically I'll have one out of ten cool off with a surface crack. I solved the problem with a quick zap of my heat gun on the blemish/crack.

I solved the problem in the exact same manner as ascentscandle. It works perfectly every time.

It's been done here too!

thanks folks!
You know, leveling the wick pin/molds might be a good use for all those packing peanuts I have now LOL wish me luck!
Just a thought...depending on how hot you pour, your mold filled with hot wax might melt the peanuts.

One thing I did notice about the Astorlite Q palm wax is that it had kind of a crayon wax smell to it that you could smell along with the FO when it burned. Not sure you get the same smell with the Candlewic Palm waxes.
You are not imagining things. Astor Q definitely has that crayon wax smell and I have found that it will overpower some FO's. Candlewic, not so much. I use a different supplier for my palm wax (Strahl & Pitsch) and find that there is none of that crayon smell.

Simply breathtaking Donita! I always enjoy seeing your work.

Hi! What wax are you using? At what temp are you pouring? What type of dye are you using? Any additives used? questions questions

I use liquid dye in my paraffin and palm candles but switch to powder dyes when it comes to soy. On Nature's Gift site there is a page that talks about the various dyes and their affects on soy. Using CB Tips. It's about half-way down the page.

Neat candles! The yellow heart is especially cool!
