Good suggestion. I'll burn the C-3 again after 72 hrs. and see how it throws - forgive me, couldn't resist but I've used the C-3 before and wasn't happy with the throw after about a week. Thanks for your feedback. Linda That sure is a cute baby!

Hey - Thanks for the feeback. I burned them in 3-4 hour sessions. I'm burning the ones with the best results as we speak - they're going on 3.5 hrs.and still have the residue/hang-up. So tonight I'll be wicking up one size on the 7 oz (to a 770) and don't know what to do about the best of the 12 oz since I used the 798 which is the biggest. I'm also going to add some some pure soy and test the best of all the sizes over again. I like the 449 throw much better than the 444. Even retested the C-3 last night and the throw was almost non existant (after 24 hr. set up) Linda

I'm hoping someone can give me some advise. I've been testing the 700 wicks which I really like - and Wickman was so nice to send such a nice assortment:D I really want them to work for mre. However, I've tested amost every size recommended for the 3-4" container and am getting large mushrooms and lot's of hang-up on the sides - even with the 798. I'm pouring GW449 Soy Container Blend - container is 12.5 oz.Metro/Status Jar. Fragrance load is 9% and I've tested 4 differenct fragrances. These are good quality FO from French Fragrance but I've needed to go to 9% to get the throw that I'm happy with. No dyes. I've burned all testers 3 times and still have hang up. I've also tested the wicks for the 7.5 oz Metro/Status jar, no mushrooms, but still too much hang up. Same FO load, etc. I've read that maybe the wax is too hard but yet I've also read that maybe the wax is too rich . I can live with the mushrooms but the hang up is a problem. Thanks for 'listening'. Hi Goosebay, What kind of wax are you pouring? I've read this thread but found just one mention of Soy and I'm trying to compare notes with the GW449 blend. I've wicked several 7 oz. & 12 oz. Metro/Status jars with the 700 wicks - all different sizes. After they've set up I'll burn and post results. Thanks, Linda

Does anyone else have this problem? I watch my wax in the Presto until it reaches 170* which is the desired temp, I promptly pour the wax into the pour pot but the temp continues to climb by about 15*. I can compsensate a little but I do need to heat the wax until it melts which is usually when my thermometer reads 170*. I use the same thermometor for continuity so I know that's not the problem. Could the pour pot be conducting heat and causing the temp to rise? Thanks, Linda

Hi Budgie, I had the same experience with rough when poured, smooth after burning w/444 & just the opposite with 449. Thanks for letting me know about the wicks and melt pool. I'll post my findings after I experience with adding pure soy but in the mean time I'm going to also experiment with other wicks. I won't have the soy for a few more days. I've noticed more smoke with the ECO's and I have to trim often during the first hour. (Seems like I read where someone else had the same problem). I've found the scent throws to be better after a few days and also after they've burned for a few hours. This morning I noticed a nice strong throw from a votive that I poured 3 days ago and burned for the first time last night. The cold throw was not great when first poured. I love a big throw in my candles so prefer to use 9-10% FO. Think I might have to try the Jamaica FO. Take care, Linda

This is great wax. My fragrance throw @ 9 % wasn't quite as strong as I would like but 10% was very good. You're lucky that you achieved such good tops with the first try - took me 3 or 4 times . I'm very interested in knowing how your melt pool is and what type of wick you use. My wax pools are not to the edge of the glass. Jason suggested I ad a little pure Soy to the 449 to soften up a bit so that's my next experiment. I've been using ECO wicks. By the way, what type of fragrance is JAMAICA ME CRAZY? SOUND LIKE A GOOD ONE. santa big MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sharon in KY, I didn't have the frosting problem you mentioned. The 449 just looks really good after microwaving to 200 and scent is still very good. I can't take the time to do this in production otherwise I would. So I'm going to try pouring at 165 or higher and see what happens. I'll post findings. Good luck! Linda

Has anyone tested ECO wicks with the Golden wax? I'm using the Eco 14 in an 8 oz. 3 " dia. tin (449 wax) 10% FO Dickens Christmas. The melt pool stops at about 1/2" from side, no smoke or soot and no mushroom. I think the 14 is the largest ECO available. I prefer to stay with a cotton wick - any suggestions? Thanks! Edit - I'm burning a new tin and now I have smoke. Weird.

REALMARCHA I'm very anxious for your results at 155*. I've experimented at all the same temps as you have with the same results. Now I'm stumped - I just want smooth tops santa big . Merry Christmas! Linda Edit - I melted three containers of 449 in the microwave to start over quickly and decided to let them cool just to see what happened. Lo and behold they're gorgeous! Heated to 200* and just let set. Cold throw is still. Too bad this is not a real solution for production. Still having problems with a good burn pool on all 3" dia containers. Using the Eco 14 which is the largest. Guess I'll have to try something else. Linda

I've been wondering that same quesiton :undecided I'm really new at this too - 2 weeks to be exact. My suggestion is to research, research, and then research some more and then experiment BIG TIME. At first it was daunting but now it's addicting. There are tons of soy sites that offer help but most are specific to their waxes. I learned alot of the basics by researching on the web but the best help has been from this forum. Visit candlecauldron.com - it's not specifically for Soy but very helpful. They're blank test forms are great - just print them off -by the dozens! Good luck, Linda

I've used paper Dixie cups but hadn't thought to look for plastic ones - great idea - Thanks! I looked into the polycarbonate votive molds and they were the correct size but when I was told they were being discontinued because they didn't sell. Were you happy with using them and how did they hold up? Thank you for offering to sell me some of yours, I just may take you up on the offer but think I'll keep searching for metal ones for awhile. We'll be pouring hundreds of votives so I want to be sure I invest in molds that will hold up for awhile. Thanks again and Merry Christmas Everyone!
