Ooh, patchouli is my favorite fragrance of all time! Enjoy your bottle!
-
Howard, I use the EZ Wick Setter from BCN - also available at other suppliers - to center and apply my wick. Works like a charm!
-
They have bourbon geranium at The Scent Works, which is very similar to rose geranium. Perhaps you can add a little more rose to it?

Hey Top, I recently burned some of the very first candles I made (from back in 2005!) and though they were very overwicked at the time I made them, they burned much better this year. So what you are saying is corroborated with my particular tests. BTW, the wax I'd used was C-3.
-
Since you are already using a Candle Cocoon oil, you could give her Transcendence or Solace a try. They are both unusual scents.
-
Ok spoke to one of the brothers at JBN they are getting the dupe again very soon, it will be called Havana Nights. So lookout for it!

Solace - Candle Cocoon
Sanguigno Orange & Patchouli - The Scent Works
Red Currant (Shaw Mudge) - The Scent Works
The red currant is the one Votivo uses.

Thanks Katie for the info, I still had not heard back from Martha at JBN but it's good to know that they are looking for a new supplier for this.
-
They have lots of different style cords at Fire Mountain Gems. It's where I get all my beading supplies.

I've been doing a bit of CDN testing. I've found it works very well in EcoSoya CBA, but only works with one FO in a 70 soy/30 para blend wax, and with that one FO it throws like mad (but I'm using a Candle Cocoon oil, so it would probably throw like mad anyway).
I've ordered some CD's to test in the parasoy.
-
From what I've learned on this board, most of the professionals order wax by the pallet and retest everything once they've ordered a new pallet. This becomes especially important if you're working with soy, as soy performance can vary greatly from crop to crop.

Awesome, you will have to let us know what you think! I poured my Sage & Chamomile, Rose Petals & Cream, and Chocolate Suede samples tonight. All strong and yummy at 1 oz pp in my parasoy blend. Unfortunately I have to be in Atlanta all next week so I won't get to test burn soon - but they'll have a good time to cure...
-
Huh, well I'm glad you called so now I know too! Good luck in your search

And some people state things simply and clearly.
If you were referring to Top - well I think he's pretty self-aware. And gave reasonable advice - and wasn't trying to discourage you but to advise you to learn to walk before trying to run. No one told you to give up, simply to slow down and to reign in your expectations so you don't end up in a bind... to start small. Is that so bad?
I know it's good advice because I've struggled with candles. I'm trying again for the 4th time in as many years, but this time I know I won't be ready for Christmas. And I know it's good advice because I've found out the hard way that it's not necessarily a simple thing - making great candles. And I know Top DOES care because he's cared enough to help me.
I agree with CareBear...he wasn't being rude, just frank. He has also helped me a ton since I started this hobby. You need to have a thick skin to be a chandler. It's discouraging enough as it is.

I believe it's a Clarus wax, but not absolutely positive.

One last thing - Ragdolls have the absolute softest fur imaginable. It was like Angora really. I just loved to pet her. Now I kind of miss her!!
-
LOL I meant a Ragdoll. Oh, crap! Don't tell me that! lol Was she a pure-bred Ragdoll?
P.S. Love your avatar!
Thanks! Yes she sure was. Here's a picture of her. Don't get me wrong, she was a very sweet kitty and loved to cuddle and purr - just dumb as a stone!
And apologies to the OP for hijacking this thread :embarasse

I sent an email to Martha at JBN to find out if they will be carrying Maduro. I sure hope so, I told her lots of people love it and NEED to have it!
-
A Babydoll or Ragdoll? I used to have a Ragdoll. Had to give her away as she was the least intelligent cat I'd ever owned, and was causing so much chaos in the house. She developed a liking for chewing on electrical cords :rolleyes2
-
I poured some Solace last night and may I mention again how much I LOOOVE that fragrance! Very spa-like and relaxing! I'm planning to try out the Chocolate Suede, Rose Petals & Cream, and Sage and Chamomile tonight.
-
I was wondering what was up. I haven't ordered from them for awhile (took a break from candlemaking) but noticed lately that their website never seemed to be updated, their message board appeared to be shut down, and they've been out of stock of one of my favorite oils - Maduro - it seems for quite awhile.
RIP GL

Thanks for the info!
-
Hi all, I'm interested in trying this out as a replacement wax for the GL 70/30. Does anyone know what percentage soy/paraffin is in the KY Parasoy?
-
I doubt that she has any 1/2 oz bottles.
She does have 1/2 oz bottles, but generally gives them out as freebies with orders. But I'm sure she'd be happy to quote a price for a whole batch of them.

I stay at Hilton Suites a lot. They use Crabtree & Evelyn La Source bath products. It's an ocean type scent. I believe you can find out more about it if you go on the Hilton Suites website.
