  1. Hey I think they have those at the dollar store here want me to look for you ??

I found an 8" lighter at a 99 Cent Store while on vacation in Arizona - shaped and colored like a match - and thought they would be a great hit to sell with our candles. I bought two dozen and had them mailed back to New York. We sold them for $2.00-$3.00 each and people loved them. When I went replenish my stock, that store had none so I started looking around. They were selling them on Ebay for $8.00 and UP!!! I looked for awhile, got disgusted with the whole thing and gave up.

Good Luck....and if I find them again (which now I have to start looking because you reminded how much I liked them!!! LOL), I will let you know.

  2. I was making some fizzing milk bath tonight and put to much liquid in it while it was in the coffee grinder Long story short I put it in the meatballer and got some of the better bath bombs I've gotten so I was wondering do any of you grind the citric or salt before you put it in there. It had a much diffrent consistency than what I'm use to.

  3. Hey Grumpy I got cow patties tonight too thinking about doing the next batch in Chocolatelovers from SW coloring them brown and throwing them in a crate with some raffia that ought to be a big seller :) But then if I were trying to get cowpatties think I would get nice hard balls ????

  4. Ah, they're a tad flat on the bottom, so back to the drawing board. They hardened up nicely though. I made them a bit smaller and used a little less alcohol in the batch I just did. Hopefully these will stay round on the bottoms.

I cheat and dry mine on an egg tray :) I think a muffin tin would work too

  5. Oh that type of behavior makes me nuts! :wink2:

I can't imagine going into a restaurant and haggling with the waiter on what my bill should be.

I work at a pizza place and we get this all the time !!! but lesson learned the people who want the best deal / good hook up don't tip even if you give it to them so they aren't worth your time :)

  6. I know it varies from place to place but we have a show coming up in Sedona it is at a winery and I haven't done a show in so long I'm starting to freak out. I really need to break even so what would you guys take ?? (bath& body ) What are some of the big sellers with the better off clientel ??

  7. I appreciate the suggestions, but I am not a candlemaker. I will however, take your advice and try pouring some candles. That is where the rubber hits the road and it will probably be fun.

I am more interested in setting up a marketing company that sells candles. I needed to know the right suppliers and vendors to price the manufacturing appropriately. There seems to be a disparity in costs... I have noticed it mostly on the fo side. (fo - I picked up that much)

Right now, I can price the manufacturing under $3 per 16oz container candle looking at suppliers on the web. Most of the pricing I have been thrown for resale exceeds $7 per piece. If $3 is the production costs I wont pay that kind of markup to distribute candles for a company. I will continue looking at other possible companies to work with. I do have a friend who runs Empire candle company, but they don't handle any soy.

I understand that candle-making is your business and not mine. I don't expect to become an expert or get all of the trade secrets on my first post to a new forum. I was just hoping to get the primay distributors and contacts for a quality product so I could personally call and price all of the pieces at bulk rates.

I thank you for the responses and hope all of your companies do well.

I can't answer your questions but I think you would have gotten a better response if you would have just asked people what it costs them to make a candle. I'm sure someone would have even broke it down for you. The questions you asked are about the equivilent to going into a restraunt and asking the owner for the recipes
