  1. Anyone know where I can get a dupe for Glades Angel Whispers?
  2. I have done this for about a year and a half now and I can tell you I have no favorite. I love scents from everywhere. I don't even sell anything, this is my hobby, and I have about 60 scents! I can't seem to stop buying . My only advice is beware Ebay!
  3. LOL. I just bought votive wax to try and when I got it I couldn't figure out how to cut it up. I put it in an old pillowcase (didn't want it to get dirty) and took it outside and slammed it against the concrete porch. My neighbor was outside hanging laundry and she was looking at me like I was crazy. So I had to explain what I was doing. I think she still thought I was crazy!
  4. I have bought them here before, In a pinch http://www.goodmans.net/get_item_bl-80400_ball-80400-4-oz-deluxe-quilted-crystal-jelly-jars.htm
  5. Thank you I just emailed her. I thought BC's looked smaller in the pic.
  6. I love the ky foil liners for tarts, but they are out of them!! Anyone know of another supplier for them? I know BC carries them but I think they are smaller than ky's version. Anyone know? TIA!
  7. I have 6 children, 5 of them are under 10 and I also have an in home daycare. I never do it during the day because I am afraid someone could accidentally get hurt. It is my relaxation though so I have dh do dinner, baths etc a couple nights a week so I can be alone with my wax. I figure when he plays golf I am the one here doing it all so its only fair. The rest of the time I just wait until they are in bed. I also set my room up in my basement right next to the playroom so on the weekends I can pop in a movie in the afternoon for them and be in the next room doing candles.
  8. I think Peaks Creme Brulee smells like a Vanilla Cappuccinno. The first Creme Brulee I bought was BCN and I thought it was wonderful. Then I bought a Peaks here in the classifieds and I didn't think it smelled at all like BCN's but I still loved it. I pour it in the coffee mugs at Christmas and it sells like crazy and I call it French Vanilla Cappuccino. Of course I live in small town USA so the only cappuccino I have ever had is the kind you get at convenience stores! lol.
  9. Thanks for all of the input. I think I will just go ahead and try out pillars. Hopefully I won't make too much of a mess of it
  10. Right now I only make containers, tarts etc. I have only experimented with J50 and I love it. But I want to try other things. This is only a hobby for me with 6 kids I just don't feel like I have time to sell anything or keep up with orders etc. So my question is this, If votives are meant to be burned in a container why can't they be made from container wax? Also when I decide to experiment with votives would it be best to get a kit or just order the wax? I personally don't burn votives and would really just like to jump right in to pillars but I am afraid I would be out of my league. What are your opinions? I want to experiment with pillars because I actually buy alot of unscented pillars just to burn for looks and not scent. Those of you who have posted pics of your pillars in the gallery are a real inspiration. Any advice?
  11. Well I am also still a novice so I'm not sure if this is the proper way or not, but when I made a Black Raspberry and Vanilla container I poured it about 2/3 of the way with a deep purple colored wax then when it was slightly cool I poured white in it and it swirled nicely for me. Now I have only done that on one batch so I am not sure I can reproduce it but it did work once:wink2: .
  12. Sorry guess I should have told you my wax. I use J50 wax.
  13. I have a few scents that I would like to try and would love to have any input on the best suppliers to get them from. Strawberry Jam or anything similar Watermelon Peach (would love something that smells similar to HI) Apple I have tried JS Green Apple and BCN Mac Apple and didnt personally care for them Pink Lemonade or any good lemonade type scent I am still fairly new to this so my experience with different suppliers is limited. I have ordered from BCN and Candle Source. Other than that my only other supplier experience is just from buying from the classifieds here! So thank you for all opinions.
  14. Hi I would love to find a really good orange sherbert. Any suggestions?
  15. I have the BCN closeout Lemon Bundt Cake and I love it. Most lemony smells to me smell too much like a cleaning product but this one has a wonderful cakey smell and a good lemon.
  16. Oh and the one that I have is very strong. I have a tart burning in my kitchen and one in my living room and had to blow one out because it was way too strong for me.
  17. Thank you. Actually no I havent smelled it thats why I wondered. I thought perhaps I didnt know what it was supposed to smell like. It smells really good but not like strawberries. LOL. I feel a little silly. Thank you for your reply now I know that it smells like its supposed to.
  18. Has anyone tried strawberries and champagne from tennessee candle supply? Is it me or does it not smell anything like strawberry? I cant detect any hint of strawberry in it. I dont know if its my nose or not but it has a perfumy smell to it to me.
  19. I am pouring NGs Best Friends and I love it. However I would really like to rename it. Any suggestions?
  20. I have been using the 4 oz jelly jars and it is getting harder and harder to find them. I like the 4 oz hex jars but I am worried they will be hard to wick. Has anyone had that problem? I need a small jar because I dont like to commit myself to one scent for a long time so I burn small jars or tarts. Any input?
  21. Hi I have a question. I wanted to experiment with making wax food type items. I had some small reproduction enamelware cups and I poured J50 wax in them scented cappaccino brulee and made whipped wax on top to look like whipped cream. They are really cute and realistic looking. I burned one and it burned very well until it got about halfway down. Then I noticed that I had a small amount of black soot forming around the rim of the cup. Now I am a marathon burner however I had been blowing out and trimming before I relit. I used a 51-32-18z wick. I am very new to this so wicking is new to me. Is the wick my problem? I dont sell anything at all I only make for me because I love candles and making them has been so much fun for me so no worries there. I appreciate any insight into this. Oh by the way the cup is 2 5/8 in diameter and 2 3/8 tall and holds 4oz.
