  1. Really? Because the email I sent him was this: I am looking to buy "Newspring E1002 ELLIPSO 2 oz Clear Oval Plastic Souffle / Portion Cup 1000/Case" this from you. But I have a question. Do they have a #5 on the bottom of the portion cup? I have to have a #5 for the products I'm wanting to use them for. Please advise,Thanks!! ************************************SEE BELOW FOR HIS REPLY******************************************************************** Hello, Thank you for your interest in the WEBstaurant Store! Unfortunately, there is not a #5 located on the bottom or anywhere on this portion cup. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day. Thanks, Shane D., Kentucky Customer Solutions Specialist WEBstaurantStore.com
  2. Thanks doglvr - didn't think of Papermart. Glad to see a Uline user. I've been on their site as well, pricing some bubble wrap also. Trying to decide the safest way to wrap a candle for shipping. Lots of steps in this candle world.
  3. I can tell you that I did talk with www.webstaurantstore.com last week about their plastic portion cups, and those are NOT safe to use. In case you were looking for cups also - thought I'd share. I had been looking at poly pro bags on a few sites. Just been wondering where most get them from.
  4. I've also wondered where the best place is to get them.
  5. Maybe a silly question, but I've only ordered liquid dyes from one supplier so far (they last forever). I haven't needed to order more yet. They seem so strong and chemical smelling. Is this normal for all companies? I even thought I smelled the chemical smell in one of my clamshells when I opened the package. I only used 1 Drop per pound on those. So it's not like I put a bunch of dye in. When I open my drawer to my dyes the chemical smell is just so strong. It also makes me think the candles and tarts/clamshells would have a stronger throw with ZERO dye. Lids are on tightly too. Just wondering if this is normal. My dyes came from CS.
  6. JennaV, Did you ever get your candles back from the wicking company? I saw your other thread that you sent off a couple jars. Curious how that went. Also- have you checked into a different supplier to get your wax. That's a crazy amount of $$$ for shipping! I started out like you paying an arm/leg for shipping and luckily found someone who is just a few hours away. I now drive to get my supplies. $20 in gas is much cheaper for me and a nice 4hr drive to 'think' and relax! Hope to see you back on here for your reply.
  7. I've considered trying them as well. I have purchased a wood wicked candle from a local store just see how it burns and what it sounds like. My concern was if any of the pieces/ambers of wood - would float up into the air and be a hazard. Made me think of burning brush how it floats. I did witness a few very very small flecks float off into the air while burning. I need to finish all my other testing on my wish list before attempting another new thing. It's sooooooooooo easy to get side tracked.
  8. I need to try some other forms of strawberry also. So far, all I have tried is Strawberry Shortcake from candle science. I'm not sure I care for it much. I melted some tarts about 24 after making them - didn't seem strong. I just put some in the warmer in little bit ago and now it's day 7 - so I'll no for sure in little bit if I like it or not
  9. I don't think you're discouraging at all. I like reading your posts!!
  10. You know, the more I think about it I change my mind a lot on what I think is going to be the realistic end result. I think you have to spend money to make money. If it was that easy to work from home or start your own business everyone would do it. I do have the hopes of making what I make at 'work'. Only time will tell. I have barely got my feet wet, but I remain hopeful. If I can't quit my 'real job' by doing this I will be satisfied with an extra income doing something I love, and maybe be able to retire early or help with my kids college education etc.
  11. I also find that when you think the scent is gone - the truth is it's probably not. I have turned my warmer off, let the wax cool, and turn it back on the next day and the scent is back. Maybe not as strong as initially but still acceptable.
  12. I'm having a feeling I won't either. I make good money as a nurse, and I love being a nurse. I just love candles, melts & scents. Anything that looks and smells good. And to be able to create in myself gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment. I have already done what I need to legally sell. I did not find it expensive. Are doing more than just a DBA? I do need insurance before I sell and as far as I know that's the only step I have left.
  13. Yes, I guess you could say so. After I get my shipment (today YAY!) I think I'll have a final decision on my wax blend once I do some testing with it. I feel like I 'know' my answer though. I have not attempted to sell anything yet, but hoping to start selling soon. I have my website all ready to go. I have been only working on candles and wax melts so far. I am wanting to do lotions, lip balms, and maybe some room sprays. I do not care do try soaps. I say that now, but maybe later I'll change my mind. I spent a lot of my money on SHIPPING wax from NC to IN. That was expensive. I have found a closer place in January. It's going to cut my prices down a lot. Some of my other expenses came from the website I have and a new printer for my labels etc. I hope I'm being realistic that this will end up being something I can do at home and make what I make now at my 'real' job. I would love to have a shop of course. My hubby said once we get online and start selling there and locally from home that maybe in 6 months we can get one. Who knows. I'm dreaming a lot.........
  14. I have never mixed paraffin with anything yet. Have wax coming tomorrow so I can play around. However, I just wanted to say I have been pouring PURE Ecosoya PB and have had ZERO frosting. Maybe it's the temp you were pouring at that caused the frosting? Or else I've just been lucky. My 464 get frosting when I have made candles with straight 464.
  15. I plan to approach a company with a big idea that I have. It's not survival candles, but something different. I think your idea sounds like an excellent idea. It's better to ask and be told 'No thanks' than to not ask at all. Even if you ask, and they aren't interested it doesn't mean they won't toss the idea around in their head after you leave. I would ask a 2nd time after some months have passed by just to see if they have reconsidered. For your sake - hopefully they are going to be interested NOW!
  16. Yep! Only 4 months in & out about $2,500-$3000 so far! I have a lot of supplies though, and a shipment coming tomorrow
  17. I order from them, but mostly waxes. I tried 2 of their scents and didn't really care for them. I thought they seemed weak. I tried Cherry Float & Birthday Cake... but this was a few months ago and I mixed it in Advanced! <------ sucky wax, will never use it again. I have 90 pounds sitting here! Made pretty candles but scent throw was terrible.
  18. That's the scent I'm looking for. Thanks.
  19. well the only soy I used in tarts so far was ecosoya pillar blend, but I already know that I need to mix it. My nose & clock tells me that I also used 2oz per pound. Next time when I blend I plan to only use 1.5oz.
  20. Anyone have a supplier recommendation for a Hot Toddy FO that you've tried and loved?
  21. Moonshine, Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to hear all of your feedback and experience. I like that you can get 10hr from your soy melts. I am currently attempting an all soy melt. The newbie in me (4mths) did not even consider mixing waxes until recently. So that's probably a BIG reason I only got 3 hrs from 1 of my wax cubes. I can't wait to do some blends. I did order some different paraffin blends that have not arrived yet. I would love to have ALL soy products, but if it doesn't work out then I 'may' jump to some paraffin blend (that's why I ordered it). I hate wanting something and it not being here so I order a lot of many things. Anything can happen for me at this point. I was wanting to hear an average of what everyone gets for there melts so that I would know if mine were: poor, decent, good, or excellent etc when it comes to longevity. I'm having lots of fun & frustrations at the same times. It's a fun challenge I guess you could say I'm very serious about everything that I've done, and plan to do. I'm super glad I have a supportive husband who is just as excited as I am. I'm trying to give it 100% of all I have. It's hard while working a full-time job because I really want to be home EVERY day doing this
  22. I am definitely going to try ICS after seeing all of your wonderful comments. Makes me want to place an order right now!!
