At what temperature should I do my second pour for my container candles? I hate to heat it up too much, because I don't want to lose any of the scent through evaporation. Paula

This doesn't make sense to me. I made two 8oz jar candles. Same wax, same wick. However, for some reason, the flame on one gets way larger than the flame on the other. The only difference between the two is the scent. I put them both in separate bedrooms to test them. Can the scent have an effect on the flame? Paula

I've been using the Heinz Coreless CD-10 5" wicks in my 8oz jelly jars. After about 3 hours, the wick is mushroomed and the flame is really big. I already switched from the Zinc wick because of that. Should I try wicking down or would that put my hot throw at risk. I'm already not overly impressed with that as it is. I'm not sure where to go next. Any suggestions? :undecided Paula

I think I have finally begun making jar candles that I am satisfied with (I'm pretty picky). It costs me around $3 to make each jar (shipping charges kill me ) Anyway, how do you figure what you should charge. Since I'm just starting out, I don't want to charge too much, but I want it to be worth my time. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I melt my wax in a double boiler. Once I'm done, I wipe it out with a paper towel and boil water in it to remove the excess wax. Since it's not a good idea to put wax down the drain:( I pour it out in my gravel driveway. Sounds funny, I know. Does anyone have an easier method???

I pour at around 190 - 200. That was when I was trying to get rid of the frosting. I called candlesandsupplies and they told me to pour hotter. It didn't help in the jelly jars, but they do well in every other container. So, I'm blaming it on the jars. Do you poke holes around the wick while it is cooling to avoid any air pockets? :undecided

What kind of container are you using? The only problem I have had is using the 8 ounce and 4 ounce jelly jars that are not smooth on the outside. For some reason, the wax pulls away from the jars and frosting is a bad issue. They look terrible. If I pour the wax into a smooth container, problem solved. Weird, huh? I haven't heard if anyone else has had this problem. Also, I was a little dissatisfied with the scent throw of my first few candles. So, even though this wax is preblended and supposedly doesn't need any additives, I added a little less than a teaspoon of vybar to a pound of wax. Maybe it was coincidence, but the color was much creamier and so far, the scent seems much stronger. I was hesitant in adding the vybar because I know too much can bind the scent. I finding out the the rules of candle making are not set in stone. Go figure!!:smiley2:

At the risk of asking a stupid question, do you have to do anything different when making wickless candles, or simply not put in the wick?

I purchased wax from www.candlesandsupplies.com . It is Production Single Pour Container Wax 1275. Has anyone used it, and if so, what did you think? Did you use any additives? :undecided

Where did you purchase this wax. I am experimenting with container candles and am having a lot of wet spots. I have been using single pour container wax that I purchased from www.candlesandsupplies.com .

I just purchased some Palm Wax "Crystal" that looks crystalized when it cools. Really neat!! I made a jar candle out of it and am burning it today for the first time. It almost immediately burned a hole straight down about a quarter of an inch. Is this how the All Natural Waxes burn? Will it eventually liquify all the way across?

I purchased a box of 8 ounce jelly jars to begin making candles. I purchased container wax from www.candlesandsupplies.com . The problem I am having is the frosty looking marks forming on the jar after it cools. I have tried pouring it hotter. I have tried heating the jars prior to pouring. Today, I poked holes around the wick while it was cooling to help with the air bubbles. The one I did today did look better, but still not what I would like it to be. The jar has designs on the outside, and is not smooth on the inside. Could this be the problem? Do some waxes not like certain types of containers. The wax did fine (with the exception of a wet spot) in a smooth, plain, mason jar. I just hate to waste my jelly jars.

I am just experiementing with making candles. I would like to know some of the best wax for making container candles and where to purchase it. I have bought some off a website but was wondering what was some people's favorites. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
