  1. I TOTALLY agree!!! I use their oils, wax, and am trying out their dye blocks. Would highly recommend them to anyone!! Paula:yay:
  2. Just Scent has white Soy in flake form. I love it! Paula
  3. I only use CD's. They work well for me and I don't feel like testing anymore at this time. Paula:yay:
  4. I am having great success with JS 100% Soy. I started with paraffin and worked with it for a long time. Couldn't get a candle to burn without soot no matter what I tried. I got so frustrated I switched to soy. Didn't figure I had anything to lose. I do struggle with getting a smooth top, but they don't bother me. One day I will invest in a heat gun to help. I sell some here and there, and nobody seems to mind. The tops go smooth after the first burn anyway. I don't plan to ever go back to paraffin. Paula:p
  5. I use JS 100% Soy with their oils. I LOVE THEM!! I just ordered a sample pack and am trying out some new ones. Paula:yay:
  6. I just placed an order with Just Scents this afternoon and already received an email that my order will be delivered tomorrow! WOW!!! Now, I do live relatively close, within 1 1/2 hours. But that just seems super fast to get the order processed and shipped in a matter of a few hours. I have ordered from them a few times now, and always receive my order super fast. I just wanted to take the opportunity to give praise where praise is due!! Paula
  7. It could be any number of things. Either the wick is too big, or maybe you used too much FO. I would probably try wicking down first. Paula:)
  8. I am making 100% Soy JJ candles. I have noticed on some that after a burn, I will get a white ring around the candle about 1/2 inch from the top. Is this just normal frosting? Is there a way to avoid it? Paula:smiley2:
  9. No, I didn't get any mushrooming. And the meltpool was good. I just didn't know it is possible to have a completely CLEAN burn. I would love to not get any soot when I clean the jar. It was minimal enough that I couldn't see it until I used a paper towel to wipe out the jar. That's the most important think to me is that I get as clean of a burn as I can. Paula
  10. I just completed a test burn on an 8oz JJ with Vanilla Buttercream Crunch from JS. I used a CD-8 wick. I used 1/4 oz of FO to 6 oz of Soy. This was the best burn I have gotten with this FO yet. Sometimes, the flame would dance quite a bit, especially the closer I got to the bottom of the jar. When I cleaned the jar, there was a slight tinge of soot, but very slight. I have tested the CD-10 and the flame was too big. Would anyone try another wick? I don't want to be completely obsessive about it, but my husband has some co-workers who are really wanting to try some of my candles. Are most people who buy them really particular? And, is it possible to have a "perfect" burn? Too many questions, I know! LOL Thanks for your input!! Paula:p
  11. I use clear cups for clear candle holders. I use the metal cups in some of my ceramic candle holders, like my gingerbread house that I get out at Christmas time. The plastic cups would melt inside the house. Paula
  12. I poured another one using a CD-10. I've only been burning it for about an hour and the flame is already too big. Could the flame get smaller if I use a CD-12? I have also ordered some HTP-104 & 105's to try. I'm just really getting frustrated with trying to get these JJ's wicked. Paula:embarasse
  13. I poured an 8oz JJ of 100% Soy. I used the FO, Christmas Mulberry. I actually used about 6oz of soy and 1/4 oz of FO. I used a CD-8 wick. I am not getting any soot, YEAH! However, the flame got pretty big after a couple of hours and really started mushrooming? Do I need to wick down or do I need to wick up? Not real sure. I can't imagine using a smaller wick. Any suggestions? Paula
  14. If I pour it when it is slushy, will it still cool with a smooth look? Paula
  15. I am still very much a newbie. I have not had much luck with paraffin so I am now trying 100% Soy. I melted 6oz, added 1/4oz of Just Scent's Pumpkin Nog, and 2 drops of dye. I poked relief holes and did a second pour. As it cooled, it developed 5 little air bubbles on the top. Is this to be expected? Could I just use a heat gun to fix it? I don't have one, but I am thinking about getting one. Thanks! Paula
  16. I made my first 100% Soy candle today in an 8 oz JJ. I used a CD-8 wick. I put in 1/4 tsp of FO (French Vanilla from JS) and 1 drop of Dye (Ivory). It seems to be setting up well, except for a small crack on the top. I know Soy is prone to this, but I was just wondering what the cause of this is. I melted 6oz of Soy in the microwave for about 5 minutes. It was around 225 degrees when all was completely melted. I added the dye and FO at 170 degrees and poured at 125 degrees. I poked relief holes and did a second pour. Should I have done that???? Any suggestions? I'm a newbie!! Paula
  17. If you make the same size candle out of parrafin and one out of soy, will you use the same amount of FO or does one tend to need more than the other? Thanks for the input! Paula
  18. I was just wondering what some of your favorite wax and wicks are to use in Jelly Jars. I'm experimenting and would like some ideas on what to try. Thanks!!!!! Paula
  19. In the past, I bought the gingerbread scented tealights from in the metal cups from Partylite for my ceramic gingerbread house. Smelled great! Paula
  20. I tried using the sticky tabs and the wicks always moved on me, too. So, I went to Walmart and bought a glue gun for under $5, and I haven't had a wick move yet. Paula
  21. I have not made tealights (yet) but would like to in the future. I plan on making both, plastic cups and metal cups. The plastic cups are good for glass candle holders because you can see the flame better. I need metal cups for any of my holiday candle holders, like my ceramic gingerbread house or ceramic pumpkin. If I put a tealight with a plastic cup, the cup will melt because it gets too hot inside the ceramic. Just a thought. Paula
  22. When it comes to container candles, you better hurry up and get started. I have been working on an 8 oz JJ for about 5 weeks and am still trying to get it right. I have tried 2 different waxes and 4 different wicks. It is a long, drawn out process that takes a lot of patience. The stuff I am using right now is from www.justscent.com. It is only about 45 minutes from where I live. Good luck!! Paula:grin2:
  23. I am testing JS 123 Single Pour Wax in 8oz JJ's. I poured them at about 185 degrees. As they cooled, they slightly sunk in around the wick. Nothing too major, I can still burn them, but I was wondering if I should pour at a lower temperature? Paula:confused:
  24. I just finished a 4th week of my candle adventure working on 8 oz jelly jar candles. I am just starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully this week I will have one that I am happy with. Good luck! Paula
