  1. I plan to make lotion bars that can be used for the hands or melted in a tart burner. Just having a tough time with a recipe that glides on smoothly AND is not greasy.
  2. In our previous candle business, the wholesale shows were definitely what launched us. We started with a small retail store and after about a year, set up at the gift shows in Atlanta, Chicago and Columbus, OH. We got a couple nice size orders from each show but we also picked up some really good rep groups that liked our products. We very quickly went from one fax and phone line that we couldn't wait to ring, to multi lines that never stopped. The groups really got us started. It did cost us commission but so worth it to get the candles out there.
  3. Does anyone do pet products, such as shampoo or paw balm? Having good response to them? Is there someplace that lists safe oils, butters, etc for dogs? Also, good sources? I'd like to add them to our line with the purpose of donating to animal rescues. Thanks. Kate
  4. I see so many raves about "Pink Sugar" The only one I've tried is Peaks. It smells good but since I've not smelled it before, not sure if it smells true to what it should. Anyone that knows what Pink Sugar is supposed to smell like, tried Peaks? Thanks, Kate
  5. They require a ten pound minimum. How are their fragrances in general and do their dupes smell spot-on? Good to deal with? Shipping charges good? Thanks, Kate
  6. Without actually burning a new jar all the way down, is there a formula to estimate hours of burn time? I am adding a new jar, 4.58" in diameter by 3" high, 3 wicks, soy wax, no color. The jar is a straight 25 oz. cylinder that holds approx. 18 ounces of wax. Have not ordered the jars yet and only have the one sample, so hate to burn in case I need it for more pictures. I know I will probably have to burn it, but, a girl can hope...... Thanks, Kate
  7. Angel is usually pricier due to the patchouli and fluctuating prices of it but if you find the right dupe, it is fantastic.
  8. Sounds like the description of "Angel" the Theiry Mugler scent.
  9. I do have some of the molds and like the uniformity of them but it's a lot easier to add embeds like blueberries and coffee beans when you make by hand.
  10. I don't blend. I use C1 which is a soy/palm container blend.
  11. I want to make cookie melts (cookie shaped tarts). Saw a video with them being made and they were balling them in their hands and slapping down. The wax I normally use is a soy/palm blend and it is just too sticky to use. Sticks to the hands. Any ideas for good wax to use for this that is not too sticky or too brittle? Would like to stick to soy but willing to change for this melt. Thanks, Kate
  12. Got some samples of these from Wicks Unlimited and now need to purchase. Anyone know of a source other than Wicks Unlimited? They require 5,000 of each size. Thanks, Kate
  13. Thanks. I do like those. Problem seems to be finding a lid.
  14. Anyone have a source for the 4" wide by 3-1/2" high jars and lids like Bath & Body Works uses? Thanks, Kate
  15. Can anyone recommend a great, strong pure lime scent, pure lemon and orange that really throws and does not smell like fuel? Want to use them alone as well as in blends. Thanks.
  16. I am having problems with my light green candles turning brown when burned. I've tried with 6006 using a dye chip from CS (Bamboo fragrance) and also tried with C-1 using liquid dye from Bitter Creek South (Coconut Lime Verbena.) I know some colors can get discolored over time and with light but this is happening in the melt pool right away. Really ugly! Any thoughts or fixes? Thanks, Kate
  17. Just curious, why not just purchase from Nature's Garden? Surely, she can't sell for less since she is re-selling.
  18. They're adorable! How do they burn? Any concerns with going over the edge with the scoop and GB man at the edge?
  19. Is there any wax that can be piped on for cupcake icing. Did the whipped wax topping for years but want something that looks softer and more gourmet cupcake. Thanks, Kate
  20. I am deciding the same thing right now. Have had Kaspersky for the past two years but it is up for renewal so need to decide if I want to do so or not.
  21. I don't do bath and body (yet) but I think Honey would be good or the Mimosa and Mandarin from CS. I do have a Mimosa and Mandarin lotion melt sitting by my bed and it smells wonderful. I use it a lot for dry feet and hands.
  22. This company has 6006. They are in Allison Park, just outside Pittsburgh. They ship fast too. http://www.eapinnovations.com/IGI-6006A-Paraffin-vegetable-blend-wax--60lb-Case_p_1008.html
  23. Are you actually piping the wax topping on the cupcakes or are they molds? Seems the wax would harder too quickly in the bag.
  24. Kettle Corn is great, as is Mac Apple and Bergamot and Coriander. All throw well in soy. Kate
  25. I've been using C-1 in all my testing, trying various wicks and fragrance percentages. I'm just not happy with the hot throw. Has anyone tested both? I'm thinking of switching to C-3. It seems a lot of people use this. The main difference I can find is that the C-1 has some palm wax in it which I thought was supposed to help with hot throw. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Kate
