  1. They all look great.I think the pink sugar ones are really cute. Did you just sprinkle glitter on the tops?
  2. While I was looking around on candletech I found a color chart, sorry I can't remember where I have been all over. But the color said for sex on the beach - 1 cranberry/1 orange. So I assume you add one of each. Because warm apple pie was 2 red/1 brown. Hope that helps.:smiley2:
  3. I was hoping it could be used.I saw people tried 1343 which was 138 mp and 3% f/o retention. I was going to try 1343 since they were out of hurricane 163 mp, but saw that the preblend had 145 mp with nothing to add to the mix and had a higher mp than the 1343 and also a higher f/o retention. I am hoping it works, I may not have time to order more by Xmas. Maybe even if I have to go to a 3 watt bulb. I will let everyone know once I get all my supplies. I am hoping for next week.:smiley2: Does anyone know about the silicone bulbs? I ordered some flicker bulbs (1 watt). Do they get as hot as the regular 5 watt bulbs? Or do they stay cooler since they flicker?
  4. I hope so, they were out of the hurricane wax where I did my ordering. I only got 20 lbs. so I'll test them.
  5. Has anyone tried this wax: IGI 4625 -145 MP Pillar Blend. Says it holds 6% fragrance and good scent throw. I ordered some to try electric candles with a 5 watt bulb but wondered if anyone else used it on electrics? Thanks :smiley2:
  6. Ya, I did find that site. But I wanted to make like real grubby. Like thick grubby. Do you just keep doing that til you get the result you want? Thanks
  7. I am new to candlemaking and was wondering if anyone knew of any websites or books would be good for teaching candle techniques? I am mostly interested in the grubby look (I think you whip it but would like to get directions) and the icing look like on the top of grubby cake candles or cinnamon roll candles, do you just pour it over the top and let it drip over? Thanks
  8. Thanks again for your help Kaybee, I will have to look into the waxes some more. There aren't a whole lot of 3 watt bulbs or 5 watt. Mostly 6 and 7, 7 1/2 watts. I maybe should look for wax that can take a higher bulb since they have tons of bulbs in 6 and 7 watt. Now I have 3 fragrance suppliers to sample . I need to figure out the wax soon or I won't have them done for Xmas gifts. LOL
  9. Can some one tell me which wax is best for a good scent throw for the electric grubby candles. I have only worked with soy and I know I need a pillar wax. There are so many different fragrant loads (3% - 9%) and some for cold throw (which I assume I need Hot throw). And I am just confused now.:undecided I was going to go with 1343 but am unsure now because of the 3% fragrance load. Also I have narrowed down to 2 fragrance suppliers JS and Peaks (seems to be a majority of favorites here). I was going to buy their 1 oz. samples to see which I like best. Just wondering if anyone has ever bought from Taylored Concepts and if their scents are any good. I just saw they had alot of scents and prices looked o.k. Or if JS or Peaks is better. Any info greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks I will also check those out. I think, but not positive that mine were from brookstone or bittercreek. But again not positive. They have a good scent though and would like to find the same place. Thanks again to all.
  11. Thanks for the info, I will check out those sites. I have only worked with soy so far. And only 2 times. I have a 2 year old going on 3 that is into everything so it's hard to do anything at times. Does the pillar or the 1343 hold a good scent? I want something that really smells good. Do you also know a good place to by good scents. I have some (running low) but don't know where they came from and afraid to buy from just anywhere, I've had some bad smelling watermelon that smelled like flowers.
  12. Hi, I am new to candle making. I have made a few scented soy tarts for myself. I wanted to try the electric grubby candles with the silicone light. I really like them. I have read to use a higher mp wax like parraffin. But do they sell molds and where, that you don't have to cut a hole yourself. I wanted the grubby look. And if anyone knows of a web site or book with instructions on making your own that would be great. Thanks
