  1. Your picture of the pillars are beautiful:bow: I haven't tried anything like that. I am way to new at this. I too use the GG but still working on getting the wicks to stay straight and the jar not to get so hot. I use the CSN's too. I think I'm going to try and twist the wick and see what happens. Any tips would be great. I'm so happy for you that they burn good.:yay:Do you have a pic of them?
  2. You are not alone here:smiley2:. When I started out 5mo ago I had the exact same thing as you. This site has the most educated people that will help you through this. I have learned different way's of trying to fix this. I have done everything that is suggested and I found for me the CSN's work good @ 5% and I also flip them (that is just something that works for me). Be careful flipping them at first I had a MESS but took time and figured it out. Like the senior chandlers said wrecking the top also will work good. I am still working on them to get it to burn all the way down and this site has taught me everything that I know. The one thing everyone has taught me is to TEST TEST TEST. Hang in there 'cause It will get better and there is ALWAYS someone here that will help you w/anything you need. I love:bow: them for helping me but I still got a long way to go. Soon you will be doing this*super banana* God bless, Suzan
  3. I have read someone on a form refer stearic acid to "palm" stearic acid. Are they both just "stearic acid"? Thank you:smiley2:
  4. Jeanie isn't it "knock on wax":laugh2:. Thank you both so much for your help I'm going to try this. Cross fingers so i don't break it.
  5. I made a couple pillars last night to check some wicks they don't have anything in them. Can I burn them or should I wait untill cured?
  6. I have read so much info on how to level the bottom's and they are great advice that I am going to use. Sometimes the wick pin is not straight causing the wick to slant in the candle. Is it ok to straighten the pin itself or will it break? I am using palm feather and they are coming out nice but I do notice the pin is cooked. I don't want to break the pin. Any help would be great :smiley2:
  7. OMG MY DOG ATE MY HOMEWORK Today was the first day (trial) my hubby left his dog out in house while at work (i call him spazzz, but his name is Jake). All went good but he only ate one thing "MY GORILLA TAPE". I was so excited to make a pilar but afraid of another faucet so I bought tape yesterday. Well long story short no pillar tonight and back out tomorrow for more tape lol. ANYONE WANNA A DOG?:laugh2:
  8. Thank you all for the info. I sent CS a e-mail but haven't gotten response yet. I'm also going to look up wedo and precision wicking. Chefmom do you prime your wicks w/the wax you are using at that time or do you prime w/beeswax for all kinds of wax you use? I think I'm also going to try the CD just in case they do away w/the CSN'S, or do you use a different one?
  9. Hi everyone :wave:I have been looking everywhere :read:trying to find where I can get CSN wicks that will fit my 6.5 feather palm pillar candle. I do use the shorter ones for my 3.5 and they are working great so far but to fit my others UGH. All info would be GREAT. Thank you so much, Suzan
  10. Oh ya does anyone know where I can get CSN wicks long enough for the 6.5 mold I bought? I only see the 6" ones. Any help would be great:grin2: Thx
  11. Thank you everyone for giving great advice. Chefmom thank you for letting me know that I'm not the only one who got wax on shoe's and floor. I went to peak and put in an order for wick pins and putty. I also bought some wax, fo, molds gotta stop $100.00 *faint*later (man it can go fast). The fo are: mango peach salsa coconut lime verbena lemon colada island nectar orange ginger fizz lilac. It's so funny reading the definitions 'cause I looked at my co-worker and said "and that smells like what"?. I guessed at some of the smells. I couldn't remember what a banana smelled like. (short term memory goes first). I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one w/burnt finger tips:laugh2: Couldn't find any metal tape so I got "gorilla" tape. It say's "For the toughest jobs on planet earth" I think none of them ever made a candle:laugh2: CANT WAIT FOR ORDER TO COME NOW
  12. Thank you so much for your reply. My wax was everwhere too, now it's funny :laugh2:but at the time UGH.LOL. I am going to put in a order at peak right now and buy the pins 'cause it's not fun when faucet is on lol:laugh2: Peak also has the putty so I'll get it there too. You are so much help for me. When I did get it done it was pretty (even with little drip). I used csn 12 wick and worked nice but to little of a burn pool that it burned itself out so I'm going to put in a 14 tonight. I also think I need to let it cure more. Do you have any scents you like. I'm going to order some florel/fruity scent's from peak? Even though I messed it up my co-worker said it looked pretty.. Thank you, Suzan
  13. Hi Lizzy:wave: The praline pecan is from peak and it's real name is Creamy Praline Pecan mmmm. I'm putting in a order from peak now and I am looking for some spring scents and/or some fruity scents too. Do you have any idea's for me? The pecan is awesome but just looking for some fruity/flower scents. Thank you.
  14. OMG I definitely feel like idiot.*faint* I made a pillar last night and put a screw in the bottom of it thinking it would just holed and I thought wrong. I had the biggest faucet under the mold. I was freaking out I didn't know what to do. The mold was sooo hot I couldn't touch it. I grabbed a pot holder and put it back into the presto, what a HUGE MESS I had. I tried again w/screw and duck tape n it did it again but very little bit.:angry2:When finally made it hubby drilled a hole through it n I wicked it and wick was to small. Nature of the beast. Well ? would be is it better to just plug (some how) n drill or should I use wick pin? Should there be a tab on the bottom? Should I put the wick pin inside the mold? Where would I put the putty on the bottom under the wick or on top (where do i get the putty) I am sorry this is so long but I don't want to go through this again. If anyone could help w this I would greatly appreciate it. Please please please help me. UGH

  17. Hi everyone:wave: I am using the 12 oz status jar and putting GG wax in it. I am wondering if anyone double wicks these? I use one csn in it and it seems that only 1 side will melt when it gets half way down and WOW the glass will get HOT on the side w/out the wax. I was just wondering should I double wick smaller to have both side's melt at same time? Thank you for any help. Thank you:smiley2:
  18. I have been looking at burners on vista wholesale and it seems that their out of stock on a lot of the one's i want. Does any one know of another place to look?
  19. :wave:Thank you all for the information you gave to me. Suzy I know how you feel about money it seems like it's there one day then oops here comes another bill to pay. I'll up date you on the candles i made after cure. I made me a 1/2 doz of roses (ok clams) and they came out sooo nice. I'm having a great time making these. Thank you all:yes:
  20. I made two candles last night but I'm going to let them cure with just the Xcel and Eco wicks. I also made melts two and they came out nice they come out of the container easily but I'm going to let them care2. Thank you for all the information I'm going to check it out. Thank you Suzan
  21. :yes:Thank you Suzy It is very soft wax it was creamy so i rubbed it on my hands to see if it will help w/dry skin lol. I put them away and I am going to let them cue for at least a week. I saw your site and you are so creative and they are all beautiful. I made clam shell's do you know if people make more shells or cups? I'm FAR away from selling anything I still have to test, test, test. lol Thank you
  22. Hi Suzy:wave: I was wondering if you used this compo in a container? If so how was it for the adhesion? I just made a couple xcel (only) containers but I think I'm ganna let cure for a while and see how it goes. I used eco's in them. I haven't heard much good stuff about them but I thought "what the heck I'll give it a try". I hate waiting for them to cure.. How long do you usually wait for them to cure?
  23. i have 10lbs of xcel i just got, is there anything i can mix it with to use it in a candle? im try to get good adhesion and i dont want to waist it. I guess I should of read up on it better. Thank u so much for your help
