I didn't have a tap so I just put a pair of vice grips on the pipe and muscled it in. It wasn't hard to get thru. The metal is very thin. JB Welded it and mine was fine. Been using it about 2 years and maybe 250 lbs of wax. HTH

I not sure if this what your asking but here goes. I believe I read in an earlier post that keeping the wax at a pouring temperature for a long time is a bad thing. Can't really remember why though. I often let that last little bit left in the bottom just below the faucet hole and let it cool . I've left it with the lid for over 2 months and remelted and the wax was good. HTH

I haven't posted here for a long time but I figure this board is the best place to ask for advice.My label supplier "Pinting By Design" is apparently out of business. Now I bought a big bunch last year and didn't need to reorder until now. I really like my labels and I liked Jamies service. It's just a 1.25 x 4" kraft label with my name and a little graphic. I'm asking you all if you can guide me in the right direction. I have my own artwork or I can go for a "stock" graphic if it suits and is cheap enough. lol Thanks

Uhhh cuz I like it? I thought it would be around for some time also. Who's to say if I pick another wax and test it that it will be around forever? I will find another wax but I already know the characteristics of this wax so why not take advantage of it while it's still here?

Hi everyone I've been gone for quite a while. My question is does anyone know where I can buy some astorlite j300? I've done an internet search and only seem to come up with archived pages describing it. I really liked it for my layered candles. My regular suppliers don't have it anymore. I haven't made any candles in about a year so I've kinda been out of touch with all the changes. I wanted to make some layered candles for Christmas and j300 was great for those. TIA TeddyB

I have about 50 on my selling list and have another 15 or so that I am testing. I'll phase some out and ad others. It's fun for me and some people always want the "new" stuff

Welcome carey! I ditto what Fern said in the nicest way. I was just like you when I began seriously. It was 3 years ago and I bought a kit and poured some conatainers and everything went beautifully. Heck I didn't even measure much just a little of this and a little of that. LOL I got lucky. I thought wow this is easy. Then came the different FO's and different containers and things went downhill fast. Wicks drowning and tunneling mostly so I had to start measuring what I was doing and taking notes so I knew what worked and didn't work. I think candlemaking is the most enjoyable "hobby" anyone can try. Granted it's not rocket science but there is a lot more to it than melting wax putting in scent,color and wick and burning them. I didn't sell a candle until last year but I wanted my gifts to be as good as possible. If you're just making them for yourself and friends then you can have time to test before you actually start selling them. Believe me when you start selling and someone comes back and says your candle didn't have any smell or it burned down the middle you'll be glad that you tested and know that you sold a quality product that has been tried and true by you and your friends. My UPS lady just Drops the box on my porch and walks away. If I'm home I always hear the loud thump and she's back in the truck and pulling away before I can get to the door! She does this with jars,wax,scent or whatever I may be getting. Last week I came home and there were 2 boxes on my deck. My deck is covered but it does have a couple leaks, it was raining and it looked like she put it right where one of the wet spots were. 2 feet to the left was dry as a bone. Well I brought them in and opened them and one wasn't even mine. It was a similar address but not mine. I called UPS and told them and they wanted me to bring it in to their shipping location which is about 40 miles away! I said no way they could send their driver out to get it. I told them I would be home after 5:00 or I could set it on the deck. They said to said it on the deck and they would have the driver pick it up. 2 days later I heard a thump on the deck and quick went to the door and she had dropped off another shipment and left the one she was supposed to pick up! LOL well I called to her and she came back and I told her about the package that didn't belong to me and she said she didn't drop it off and she couldn't take it. After all this I called information and got the number of the person it was supposed to go to and called them and they came over to pick it up. What a hassle it turned out to be. Some companies act they they are the only show in town.

I have never done one this large and I'm sure there will be a lot of experimenting with it but it sounds like it will be fun. Maybe someone here with more experience than me will be able to help. Keep us updated on the progress of the monumental creation

I buy my wax from them because they are close and the shipping is reasonable. I had some problems with them early on over packing issues and though they said they would give me credit and gave me a code to use on my next order the credit was never issued. After several calls and a few emails I just gave up and chalked it up to experience. Like top said earlier when it comes to buying lots of wick assemblies they are the best I've found. I've had problems at one time or another from everyone but Peaks but they are so far awy from me shipping is a killer. I expressed to CANDLEWIC once that though they had fine products their shipping dept was severely lacking. The girl on the phone told me that was really their business and that I should go elsewhere if I didn't like it! I thought WOW! that's a great way to keep a customer. So I don't get anything from them can can break, rip, or leak. Slab wax and wicks only for me. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in here. Y'all have a great day!!

OK guys I couldn't wait. LOL:grin2: I went with a orangey swirl kind of thing. They didn't turn out the best but they're for me and some friends anyway.
