  1. It is a long process ...Not sure if I am willing to share it at this point as I am selling these...but I may do a tutorial for purchase if you are interested....Sorry bout that but this process I use is something I came up with after a million trial and error processes I used through online research.. But this process I came up with seems to be the only way for me that I can get good results every time. :).

No problem, I completely understand! Just want to tell you it's wonderful! (and your cats are purrty too! I have 7...lol)

  2. thanks all! I wound up not using the picture (wouldn't fit where I needed it to go..lol), but bought the ModPodge anyway. Wound up painting their names and wedding date.

Katshe: would you mind pm'ing me with how you did that and what you used? It's wonderful!!

    G'Nite all,

    Sara

  3. just opened a book I got 6 years ago and it had a bunch of cool ideas...some of which included decoupage-ing. I have no idea where to start, but in my Google adventure, came across something saying that for the backside of the picture, you can use a mix of white glue and water, then use the decoupage medium on the front.

Has anyone done this before, or have any other ideas?

Totally confuzzled, but want to try some different crafts!

    Thanks!

    Sara

  4. After looking and drooling over the bags that TexasBrat makes, I need to find the directions to make one (really tired of my son's diaper bag). I just picked up some free Waverly fabric (not all that pretty, but will work for practicing).

    Any helpful hints out there??

    Thanks!

    Sara

(darn creativity...my BFF wants me to make her a quilt for her B-day in August, and with the rest of my free fabric I think I'll make placemats, unless I can come up with another idea...)

  5. So, do you think if someone didn't like the color green that they would not like the green in this purse??? I just found out by reading my swap partners profile that she doesn't like the color green.:( I think the green in this fabric is almost a yellow color.

I don't think it will be a problem at all, cause the green is an accent. It's not predominantly green, which might have put her off a bit, but it's very spring-timey and quite lovely!

  6. I like them both. I need to learn how to make them,

I'm with Anita here, need to find a pattern and learn how to make these! (quite frankly, after a year, I'm tired of using a diaper bag that doubles as a purse...as much as I like Winnie the Pooh...lol)

    Great job, they are gorgeous!

  7. Thank you all very much! The few occasions that I post something in this here craft section, I always feel a little silly doing it, cause my things aren't nearly as intricate as some of the others I've seen (I especially love the bags!!), but I greatly appreciate all the nice feedback.

Now that I have a little more confidence, I'll post some pics of the other quilts I've made as gifts.

Thanks again ~ and have a great night all!

  8. Was supposed to make it for her b-day last year, but I was VERY pregnant and couldn't get to the sewing machine...lol

She's about to be 5 and her room is orange (but if she changes it, the quilt can transition too). That's her in the picture hiding in the quilt and her mom in one of the pics helping to hold it up. It's for a twin sized bed, about 72x90. Made it in about 4 days.

(sorry about the fuzzy pic, she was pulling on me...)

  9. I know this post is old, but I've been going through the old ones trying to decide what to work on next, and have to tell you that I ADORE this purse!

OMG, I really do love it! I've been going through looking at the others that you've done and they are all really cool, but this is hands down my favorite of the bunch!

Just wanted to let you know...

  10. I try to stay away from doing good as it blows my image totally, but I do donate a % of all my sales to the Celiac Disease Foundation.

Grumpy ~ I have to jump into this conversation really quick to tell you that I adore you! Had such a bad day and was catching up on my reading here and you made me laugh so loud :P

Sorry folks...carry on with your discussion....:tiptoe:

btw: it's great what you all do for charities!

  11. I simply don't believe that is allowed where ever it is you live. Around here grocery stores have balers that crush the boxes for recycling, something that was invented, ummm about 100 years ago at least. I can just imagine 1000 or so boxes outside of a building after the guys are done stocking shelves. Besides, it's a fire hazard and they are not even allowed to save them for anybody if they even had the TIME to stack them outside, LOLOL.

Unless you are talking about a dollar store or small business of some sort and you happen upon them as they are stocking the aisles.

Just wanted to pipe in with the fact that our grocery store and the drug store have boxes out back. When we were re-doing the kitchen and in need of boxes, that's where I went. It was a surprise though, cause in NJ they didn't have them out. Maybe it depends on where you live? Just a thought...
