lmc
I will be using about an ounce of Cranberry Marmalade to 2 lbs of base and would like to add some orange eo...how much do you suggest? Ive never used an eo and would like to know where to start. TIA
Guest OldGlory
I am trying to remember the level of additives suggested for M&P - isn't it .5 oz fo per lb of base? It's been years since I made M&P, but if that's correct, maybe you should test a 75% Cranberry M. and 25% orange EO mix. I would start there. I don't know how strong the fragrance of your Cranberry is. When I am mixing scents I do the q-tip test, and let it rest for a few days to get a good blend.EO's are different as far as their staying power, the intensity of the scent, the safety of each oil, and the volatility of each oil. For example, peppermint EO is extremely strong so you cut back on it. Birch is also very strong. Patchouli I like to add a bit extra (just because I love it). Lavender EO I use at the same ratio as a typical fragrance oil, although I often sub with lavandin, or use a blend of true EO and lavandin.
