jmcandlecompany
We have been testing scents and waxes this is a 4 oz deep tin after about 3 hours of burning it dried rough is this normal due to the type of was we are using? eco soya excel wax. Reason I'm asking is i bought a competitors candle and it dried very smooth?
Beth
I've never used that wax, but it looks better than the 415 I use, lol. Normal for soy
funkymonkey66
Heat gun will take care of that.
lmc
Soy tends to have 'natural' bumpy looking tops after subsequent burns. You can minimize the look of this by tempering the wax and/or adding USA (universal soy additive, NOT the same as UA)...about 1tbs pp. You could also try adding a small amount of CO (coconut oil) but I strongly suggest you do not use both USA and CO together. Excel already has additives in it, so try just tempering the wax first...really does help.
scifichik
Looks fairly typical to me. Wait until you find one that looks like cauliflower after it cools! My customers never complain about the tops, even when they look like a mutant experiment gone awry...they are more concerned with good scent throw. FaithfulScenter
Yes soy does not look very pretty after burning, and its hard to get it looking pretty before!!
jmcandlecompany
Thanks for all the replies. We have great scent throw!! Seems like the candle I bought from my competition probably is not 100% soy Thanks again
