GermantownCandles
I bought some liquid dye from a small craft store near me just to see how it worked out. When the candles cool, i'ts leaving little dark colored specks on the side of the jars. I really like the deep colors it gives in my 6006, but I definitely do not like all of the little "dots" on the side of the jar. What do you think the issue is and is there anything I can do to correct this? Thanks for the help!! Faerywren
Sounds like your dye isn't blended completely into your wax.
CaftCandles
What temperature do you heat your wax and dye mixture? It may not be hot enough to blend properly.
Stella1952
To prevent "spots" of undissolved dye/pigment, I preheat (~110°-120°F) the FO & dye together in a pour pot before adding the wax. This helps to allow the dye to dissolve more completely in the FO (a solvent) before adding the wax. When pouring the containers (or molds), I pour through a tea strainer to catch any undissolved globs as well as dust, lint, etc. that may have gotten into the wax. GermantownCandles
I haven't tried heating the dye with my FO... I'll give that a shot and let you know how it goes! Thanks again, you guys are great!!
