vberkesch
Hi all, I made the wooden soap dish that was posted here and it turned out really cute!!! BUTTTTT, I tried it out and the dish turned black where the soap is resting on it!!!!! What do you think is the problem?? I made it 2 ways. One dish has 3 coats of regular varnish..that dish only turned black at the edges. And then I used the MARINE varnish especially for water resistance and that dish turned black all over!! Any advise! Noodle
I know that wood turns black when it is wet and in contact with metal. Is there anything metallic in nature in your soaps? It also can be fungi, but I am not sure of that either with a soap dish. I know it happens outdoors to wooden furniture in areas that are not treated.
