Starr
Was it especially hot or humid where you were letting them set up? What was your recipe? What was your FO? HP or CP?
Carriegsxr6
It may have overheated. Did you let the lye water cool down before mixingit with the oils? Also if you use a fragrance oil that is not soap safe, it causes reactions as well.
Anna
Starr it was around 75 degrees in the house. The recipe-Veg shorting-12ozs coconut oil-12ozs palm kernal flakes-12ozs shea-4ozs soybean oil-20 0zs olive oil-20ozs water-26 ozs lye- 11.30Made it-CP The oils are from Starville,Strawberries&Cream,Mango Papaya.both are soap safe.Carrie, the oils and lye water was 100 degrees. After it trace and when I got it pour in the mold, the soap had already started to gell.I covered it with a thick towel and blanket, and left it for 24 hrs. Anna
It's still in the mold,Do I need to stick my finger in it and taste it to see if it zaps?
Anna
I forgot to mention this is QuietGirl recipe. Is there a tutorial for rebatch?I have done it,but it's been awhile ago.I have forgot.
singleyellowrose
If it were me I would just leave it be for a couple of days in the mold to see if it reabsorbs. If it does, then test it for zap.If it zaps you could either leave it in the mold for another day or so or pull it out and rebatch it. IwantItgreen
You stated that you hadn't made soap for awhile, just wondering if your lye was old and is the culprit.
country bee
I have had this happen many years ago,did your batter seize when you added the fo?It may be too much fo and added to fast causing your batter to seize before full incorperation of the fo into the batter.I remember trashing my soap ,rebatch did'nt work-the oil kept seeping out a few days later.Good luck to you
