Thank-you for posting this. I have a good smelling watermelon FO that I was going to try making a watermelon looking soap. I have not tried the black yet, but if you don't have a good answer (which the previous poster may be good, just have not tried it yet:smiley2:) I will post my results too.

I've wondered about the charcoal too.. I'll give a shot today and see what happens, if I'm not happy with it maybe I will give the charcoal a shot because that would turn out to be alot of oxide, I think I only have about 1oz left after making crayons, lol... I got carried away with those as I always do :rolleyes2

My problem I ran into ... and it is the same with the charcoal ... is getting a solid streak of black that didn't bead out or break up. Thicker soap helps that, but for me, using more was easier. Problem with the oxide was I often had to let it set for a day or two so it would blend easier. Charcoal blends like a dream.

I have no idea how big your batch is, but you could probably get by with 1/2 of what I said earlier too. Just no promises that it will be the right amount ... every recipe would be different along with every fragrance I suppose. That's just what I use so that I get the midnight black. Use less soap and then you use less oxide.
