sudsnstuff
Hi, newbie here to the board although I have been lurking for a while and have learned so much. Does anyone know if you can alter something enough to be able to use the packaging? For example if I made chip shaped soap is there a way I could use like a pringles can or a chip bag? Is there something I could do to the package to be able to sell it that way? I have tried to find it on line but I am not having any luck. Stella1952
You'd have to make it look substantially different from the copyrighted material.
Jokerjen
Not to mention that packaging in an old pringles can or chip bag...to me would be unsanitary.

Jokerjen
OH you meant something similar to a pringles can but new and you design the label?Sorry, I misunderstood.....I know they sell wax type/frosted cookie bags..could you not somehow make something like that resemble a chip bag? sudsnstuff
that is a good idea. I also made lip balm for my kids that I poured into glue stick containers. (I totally washed and sterilized them and made sure it was non toxic glue just in case I missed something) Their friends went crazy loving them because it looked like the kids were putting glue on their lips. A few people have asked me about buying them and I have even had a teacher ask if her class can sell them as a fund raiser. I know I could use the containers and make a new label that said glue stick but having the label that is clearly recognized is half the fun. bells4shells
Yeah, you're probably going to run into trademark infringement with the look a likes. I'd definately at least design your own labels and try to steer clear of same colors, etc. There needs to be a clear difference that what you're selling is in no way affiliated with the recognized brand. Kitn
It is super easy to make a chip like bag with a crimper, they are a blast to make. You print out your info , glue the back seam, put your soap chips in and glue stick 1 edge crimp it and do the other side.
