Hi, newbie here to the board although I have been lurking for a while and have learned so much. Does anyone know if you can alter something enough to be able to use the packaging? For example if I made chip shaped soap is there a way I could use like a pringles can or a chip bag? Is there something I could do to the package to be able to sell it that way? I have tried to find it on line but I am not having any luck.

that is a good idea.

I also made lip balm for my kids that I poured into glue stick containers. (I totally washed and sterilized them and made sure it was non toxic glue just in case I missed something) Their friends went crazy loving them because it looked like the kids were putting glue on their lips. A few people have asked me about buying them and I have even had a teacher ask if her class can sell them as a fund raiser. I know I could use the containers and make a new label that said glue stick but having the label that is clearly recognized is half the fun.

Yeah, you're probably going to run into trademark infringement with the look a likes. I'd definately at least design your own labels and try to steer clear of same colors, etc. There needs to be a clear difference that what you're selling is in no way affiliated with the recognized brand.

It is super easy to make a chip like bag with a crimper, they are a blast to make. You print out your info , glue the back seam, put your soap chips in and glue stick 1 edge crimp it and do the other side.
