Today I found a chemetry supplier here in Puerto Rico...this made me so happy...they sell caustic soda that made me more happy , but they only have caustic soda at 99.99%...can this be consider 100% and can be used on soap making?...please help me b/c they have very good price on it. $20.00 per 55 pounds (considering I'd paid $6.00 per 2 pound and $9.00 S/H...so I guess its a good deal for me!!!! sudsnwicks Posted July 27, 2005 Share Posted July 27, 2005 I believe it should work. For making soap, you need technical grade lye (100% lye which is at least 97% pure). If yours is 99.99% pure that is even better and is probably their laboratory grade. Usually we don't buy that as it's way more expensive than the technical grade which is good enough for soap making.
