PrimBeginnings
Can the temp you pour at affect fragrance throw? I heat to 180-185, add FO at 170-175, stir 3 min and pour 165-175. I leave my pot in the double boiler with thermometer in wax to control temp during this. Is that okay? I see Golden brands has pour temp around 125-145, should I pour cooler, or is that for candles? I have posted 2 other questions too! Am I asking too many questions? Aubrey
Scotty
That should be fine unless your pouring into the plastic tart shells you could slightly melt them at higher temps. I pour at 105-100 with 464 but whatever works for you, if you like your reults don't change anything.
PrimBeginnings
I am happy with the look of the tarts, I would like to get a better CT and HT and was wondering if the temp I pour at can affect it. I pour into muffin liners. Do you have a reason for pouring so cool? (Do you pour tarts?) Scotty
MY reason for pouring that cool is I have less frosting and I usulay don't need to use a heat gun when I pour that cool. I'm sorry I don't pour tarts any more. You sound like you are mixing the FO at the proper temp though.
newbeme
I don't use 464 and am considering using 464. I use a mix of EL Millennium Container and EL Votive. I bring temp up to 190 then let drop to 180, ad fo and pour around 160. I use clam shells and the throw is great, the tarts last a long time. You are using 464 only... don't the tarts come out too soft ?
PrimBeginnings
I have poured 464 for tarts both straight and with 15% paraffin. I don't have any trouble with them being too soft. I don't pour into molds normally, but I did pour into a plastic portion cup for a test and the 464 popped out just fine.
