  1. I am very new to this, but would the alcohol act as the preservative? If not what would be considered a preservative?
  2. I just want to confirm before I order, I would feel silly getting oils from wrong place ... CS is candlescience.com KY is kycandlewaxsupply.com WSP is wholesalesuppliesplus.com
  3. Thank you so much for the input. I'll try and order all of them. I don't know elements, what is their website? They all sound yummy (except santas whiskers, I know it doesn't really smell like facial hair, so I'll read its description berfore I order
  4. Hello, I recently tested candle science pecan pie in 464 and I love the scent, but would like to see stronger. I poured 1.5 per lb. in tarts. Does anyone know of one that smells so sweet and yummy like this one, but a little better in soy? I tried BCN pecan pie, did not like, smells burnt. Thanks so much for help. Aub I love the scents that smell like sweet food! Does anyone know a Christmas scent that is sweet and fattening? I am planning on ordering these tomorrow: Buttered Rum (CS) Plumberry Spice (KY) Caramel Pecan (KY) Brandied Pear (CS) Hansel & Gretels House (CS) Creme Brulee (KY or CS) Home for the Holiday (Peak) Pomagranate (BCN) Sweet Pumpkin (Daystar) Any warnings or suggestions would be appreciated. Others to buy from Peak or Daystar, so I am not only ordering 1 flavor.
  5. I have poured 464 for tarts both straight and with 15% paraffin. I don't have any trouble with them being too soft. I don't pour into molds normally, but I did pour into a plastic portion cup for a test and the 464 popped out just fine.
  6. I am happy with the look of the tarts, I would like to get a better CT and HT and was wondering if the temp I pour at can affect it. I pour into muffin liners. Do you have a reason for pouring so cool? (Do you pour tarts?)
  7. I would like to improve the CT and HT and the length they last. Two afternoons seems to be the typical length for most tarts. I have tried using coconut oil. Could be my imagination, but the CT seemed stronger, at least at first. There are some tarts that are sold in our area that are soooo good, it makes me afriad to try mine on the public. I worry that if people try them and they are just good, not great that they won't come back, so I am trying for a great tart!
  8. Does less FO is sometimes better apply to tarts too? THere is no wick to get 'cloged' with FO and alter proper burn. I am pouring around 9% FO in 464 with 15% paraffin. I see the list of FO that work well in 464, that is wonderful info. Sometimes it seems like I'm always pouring money into samples that don't perform as well as I would like. Aubrey
  9. Can the temp you pour at affect fragrance throw? I heat to 180-185, add FO at 170-175, stir 3 min and pour 165-175. I leave my pot in the double boiler with thermometer in wax to control temp during this. Is that okay? I see Golden brands has pour temp around 125-145, should I pour cooler, or is that for candles? I have posted 2 other questions too! Am I asking too many questions? Aubrey
  10. Please help. I am getting frustrated. I am working on 464 tarts. I have added 15% paraffin trying to improve HT a littel. I was wondering about curing tarts. I have read so many different opinions with so much varience, like, 1 hr per 3 oz of wax, and 24 hrs, and 1-2 weeks. Would anyone who uses 464 like to tell me their opinion on curing? I have made 2 other posts. I didn't want to overwhelm people with too many questions:) Aubrey
  11. Is WSP wholesale supply plus? The room spray base is about 7.50 per .15 gal? There directions only add FO. Am I mixed up as to your recipe? I think you wrote that you use FO and modifier/emulsifier and then add equal parts water/alcohol.
  12. I made a few batches of room spray with the cyclomethicone, It does leave little oil speckles on my countertop and floors. I am not making anymore room spray with the cyclomethicone, I am looking for other recipes. It is a nice product, but I don't like coating my things with an oily residue. Its doesn't dissipate fast enough for me.
  13. Hi, I have been testing for making tarts for a year now. I think I am ready to move on to selling, so here is my question. I have been pouring small batches (<1lb) for my tests. I melt, mix and pour out of a small double boiler pot I have. I was thinking that I could mix up a larger batch of tart wax in my presto and dip out of it to add the FO mix and pour. This may be a silly question, but does wax weigh the same as a solid and a liquid? I know that 1 lb of soy makes about 18 oz liquid, but that is a volume issue I believe.
  14. the jar store only seemed to have glass lids, lonestars are close, they have the raised handle instead of the ring ... i'll keep looking for now ...
  15. I'm going to look at the jar store and lonestar right now to see what I find.
