DONNAMAC
Just getting ready to do a fishermans soap. Is there anything you can add for texture that would not affect the properties of the soap? This is my first time with this, anymore suggestions? TIA
OverSoyed
I don't think I've ever heard of such a soap. What makes it special? As for additives, there are complete lists on the forums.

OverSoyed
Well how about that! I'll have to try that sometime.
Luci
I haven't put anything extra in for texture but think I'm going to try a little pumice in my next batch.
DONNAMAC
Luci, I was thinking jojoba,do you think that would be alright?
Luci
I don't see why jojoba beads would be a problem. I've added a very small amount of jojoba beads in a facial bar for a little gentle exfoliation. When I first heard the term "fisherman's" soap, I initially thought that its purpose would be to take away the stinky on hands. As one who wants to elimate that smell off me asap, I did a little more reading and found that the main purpose is to mask the human smell. So, I left out the scrubbies. I've somewhat changed my mind, though, and will add something in the next batch cause I like scrubbies in my "utility" soaps.
van_yulay
I make the fishermans soap also. I put anise, baking soda, and pine oil. Makes the perfect soap!
Sally
I make a H.P version of the fishermans soap with aniseed e.o & colour it with charcoal powder which also acts as a light exfoliant. It looks & smells just like Black Jacks, a sweet we used to have as kids over here in U.KSally.
