beekeeper_sd
I use shea butter in my lip balms and have read that shea butter has it's own natural sunscreen properties. I have tried to find out the spf factor of shea butter but can't seem to find anything. Anyone know anything about it?
8-GRAN-ONES
You might ask whom ever you bought it from..they might have some info...i have not heard of it myself..
CareBear
I'm sure you know this, but just in case... you cannot claim sunscreen properties of your product...
ah-soy
I believe the spf properties of unrefined shea butter is estimated to be 5 to 6. But, as Carebear said, if you claim that your product becomes a 'drug' subject to FDA approval...best to stay a cosmetic!

Thanks for the heads up. I don't make any claims in writing but I do tell customers that shea butter has some natural sunscreen properties. Maybe I will quit saying that totally!
