Rogue1
I would like to sub something for jojoba oil in a soap recipe. The recipe calls for 8oz jojoba but I only have 4 oz... Is there an oil that is comparable to jojoba? Could I use half jojoba and half AKO? Thanks in advance!!
Scented
Actually if you sperm whale oil that would work, but since it isn't allowed in the US, you might not. I don't really think there is a good replacement for jojoba. One it's really a liquid wax with a unique . Two I think it has more benefits than AKO. Quite possibly though, FCO, though not a liquid wax or wax ester, might be an adequate replacement if you were doing a massage oil. Why not make half the recipe you're wanting to do until you get more? Honestly I don't know what would be a good replacement, because I'm not sure one exists. Meridith
I too can't think of a comparable replacement for jojoba BUT you can sub in some AKO for 1/2 your jojoba. But know that it will change the properties of your soap. Just how it will change, you won't know until you make a batch. Just run your numbers for you lye amounts and give it a try. For all we know, it could make a very nice soap and even be an improvement from just using the jojoba.
