coconut
Recently started testing this wax for tart because I would love to pour once and be done. Here is what I found:Pros: Throws better than 4794, smooth and creamy one-pour wax.Cons: Higher melt point so I have to stick with round molds. Does not release or melt as easy in odd shaped molds. May not fully melt in lower temperature devices.I haven't decided for sure if the higher melt point is really a con. In Florida, wax that does not melt too easily is sort of a good thing. Does anyone else have any thoughts about this wax for tarts only, not votives? Thanks!
coconut
Nobody uses this wax for tarts?
Di_in_AZ
I use it but I blend with J50. I usually pop them in the freezer and the pop out, I use the fluted tart molds. Just have to be careful on the time in the freezer, cannot be long or they can crack.ETA--with the fluted molds, be very careful, easy to cut yourself on the edges when popping them out! BTW, why do you blend it with J50? I'm testing that wax too, and so far I like it.
Di_in_AZ
It is a little more soft with the J50 added. I started doing that years ago, when I was done with a batch of candles, I would take the leftover wax, add the Astorlite V to harden, add the FO and make the tarts. I usually go about 1/3 J50 to 2/3 of Astorlite V. Works good and has a great scent throw.
gingerinarkansas
I didn't care for votives made with astorlite V until I also started mixing with a softer wax. Now it's much easier to work with, better hot and cold throw and easier to wick. I've been mixing mine 1/4 J223 and 3/4 V. Ginger
