Which soy wax for scented votives?!?

Recommended Posts

-Tried Golden Soy GW415, it was dang near impossible to get the candles out of the molds. Kind of a nightmare!

-Tried Ecosoya CB Advanced, the candles looked good but the scent throw was only 'meh'.

Should I use a pillar blend??

I like the idea of lower MP waxes for my votives, seems like the candle would burn cooler and be less likely to crack my cute vintage glass votive cups.

Any thoughts on this?? If there's already a thread for this, could someone direct me to it? (I'm new.)

Thanks :)

Lorraine

Both of those waxes are for containers. Try a pillar/votive blend. EcoSoya PB has a good throw.

When you say "my cute vintage glass votive cups" I am assuming you are using these for your own use?

Welcome! One of the first skills to learn here is to use the "search" tool to search individual forums, threads or the entire site for information. Good Luck. :)

Thanks! I'll be giving Ecosoya PB a try ASAP!

Yes, They are mostly for my own personal use... [especially until I get my formulas right, lol!]

I burn a lot of candles! I have lots of old glass votive cups, the kind that the votive candle fits into perfectly with no extra space.

My theory on using container wax was: since the candle is totally enclosed in glass, it functions as a mini container candle. Store-bought votives have shattered a few of my candleholders in the past, I was thinking the MP was too high/ hot for that 50 year-old hobnail glass.

Thanks for your help!

I use container wax in votive candles that I pour directly into the container, but I don't expect those to demold because I am using container blend.

If you make molded votives to put in the holders, then use votive/pillar wax, but if you pour directly into the glasses, use container wax. Either way would work. :)
