ravenfirewolf
I recently made a candle and the flame burns too high, is it because my wick is too big after I trim it up? Thank You for your input,Raven
SatinDucky
It's hard to guess without more info...What kind of candle? Type of wax, size of wick, amount of fragrance oil, additives, etc can contribute to improper burning...
Oh-MYo
When I trim, I trim for flame height not wick height. To me that 1/4" wick is just a guideline. My wick is usually more like 1/8". Depending on whether I already have a melt pool. I even trim while the candle is burning. Personally I dont mind an overwicked candle because I have no problem trimming as often as necessary. ravenfirewolf
Thank you. It is crystal wax, I don't really have a specific size I trim to. I will keep on experimenting, but if you can give me more of an opinion with that info that would be great.

Is this a container or a pillar? What size(width, height)? What type(zinc, flat ply, LX, etc) and size of wick (not how long it's cut too, but the number on the wick, like 10, 18, 44, whatever)?Did you use fragrance oil and if so, how much? How long are you burning it before the flame become very large?
