Welcome :)

The only way I know of using napkins is to stick them on the outside of a hurricane shell. A pillar type candle would be dangerous to burn with them.

Here is instructions for making a shell. You wouldn't need the insert though since you're not putting anything inside the wax.

Sharyl55 is holding a class tomorrow on embedding an picture in a hurricane. You could watch along and get a general idea of making the hurricane.

Look around the forum here, you'll find lots of helpful info.

I remember YEARS ago people would put decals on pillar candles for deocration but they would never burn them.

Here is something I've been wanting to do for a few years but still haven't tried it. I think with a lot of trial and error you could put some really neat looking stuff on your pillar candles.

on another site I read that dangerous it was decorate candles with napkins, and then on another site it is this not dangerous.

I want no dangerous candles make, that is the reason for my question here on this site.

The people saying it's NOT dangerous are probably the ones making them. They wouldn't get many paying customers buying them if they state that burning them IS a fire hazard.

Maybe they're a water slide decal, not a napkin. I don't know how flammable the decals are... I've never used them. If they're resistant to fire and you used a very tiny wick that wouldn't melt the shell, you might be able to do it.

I would still recommend a hurricane shell or a "forever" pillar that doesn't melt.

Here's some pictures of what they are.

You'll find alot more info by searching for FOREVER + PILLAR

It's wonderful that you're first concern is safety! :yay:

Hello ladies,,I dont make candles,,BUT I have done this with ready made ones,,and it really ISNT dangerous,,the way you do this is:

you cut the design out of the one layer of the napkin,,and pin the napkin down on the candle and use a heat gun to saturate the napkin INTO the candle..this way it burns just like the candle,,I have done this LOTS and have burned them LOTS..and have one right now that I did for valentines burning right now, it burns all the way down,,
