artcwolf
I'm wonding if a HTP104 wick is too big for this combo8oz apothecary jar from CS (4inch diam)4630 wax9% fireside FO from C&S (yeah i know i need to stop ordering them)a medium grey dye colorI've test burned a HTP83 and doing the HTP93 now, after 3 test burns of 4 hours each i'm not getting a full melt pool. It's leaving about a half an inch around the outside of the jar. It's got a decently sized melt pool depth about 3/4 of an inch after 2 hours and stays at that level, but alas no full melt pool.so again is the HTP104 to big of a wick for the jar? heather8098
I use a 4 inch diameter jar with 4627, and I use 2 HTP 83 wicks. Are you using 1 wick or 2? I doubt you will be able to wick that jar with 1 wick.
MissMary
If single wick, I think you should try it. IIRC, they are for 3-4" containers anywho, give it a shot. I don't know about that particular FO or what it does, but it sounds to me like you are underwicked, though for my personal taste, I think 3/4" might be a bit too deep after 2 hours too. Maybe trying the 104 will fill out the melt pool and burn out instead of down so much.Just a guess.
SpaceGirl
Try it and see! I always end up underwicking with the HTP's at first -- I think the high numbers throw me off. 4630 sometimes needs a little more oompfh than your usual paraffin, so don't be afraid to try some larger wicks and then scale down if you need to.
