Luci
Can I add ground oatmeal after cooking for 30 mins? I've got a batch in the oven cooking with some goat milk that my friend brought me.
Angel91805
I've never added oatmeal to HP...but I would think you could add it the same time as your FO....just make sure to blend well.HTH!Donna
Luci
I went ahead and added it and put it back in the oven to cook a little more. Guess I'll find out!My friend raises Boer goats, and one had triplets the other day. Two died, so the mama had too much milk. So after milking her, she brought me the excess to do a small batch. I've used gm in hp before but only the canned stuff that I dilute. Since this is an "experimental" batch, I thought I'd add some oatmeal to it. This milk was so thick and rich, so I'm hoping that the batch will turn out ok. Gonna scent it with OMH.
Meridith
Luci, fresh GM from the goat herself is wonderful!!!!!! It is even better than canned, powdered or the GM in your grocer's freezer. You are one lucky gal. Good for you!Because of the high fat content in fresh GM, I usually soap with a 4%SF.
Luci
I just bathed with this soap, and it is soooo creamy. I used the default values on soapcalc and also added silk fibers in addition to the oatmeal.Unfortunately, I doubt I get much more of the fresh milk. Another female delivered triplets but has mastitis and can't nurse. My friend is having to bottle feed the babies and is using the excess milk from the other mama goat for now. I'm thinking, though, that after she tries this rich soap that she's going to do whatever she has to in order to keep me in the fresh milk!I've only done about a dozen batches of hp, but this batch was ready so much quicker than any of the others done with this same recipe. I'm wondering if the fresh milk has anything to do with that.
