I thought I would share this with you. I used one of those plastic candles you can get in the dollar store for your windows. I grubbied the outside of it, and the dcorated it with odds and ends that I had in my craft room, topped it off with a silicone bulb. What do u think? I was thinking of taking it to work and putting it at my nurses station. Thanks for looking

You know, I have to ask because I'm so curious. Those silicone lightbulbs. I've never touched one yet. Is that top like glass? Like can it break off? Or is it made of silicone? I look at them while browsing supplies and think my kids would touch that in a second and break it if it was real glass. That fine part at the top of the bulb that bends over.

Does $9.00 seem like a good price to charge ?

I would pay 9 dollars for one. It really is beautiful. :)

It's really good to know those ends don't ruin the lighbulbs if pulled off! Amazing the things they make these days. I really didn't even know those existed till recently. They are very cool. See them in the hurricaines all the time. :)

Littysmom,

Did you secure all your additions to the base of the candle? How about the dried oranges? Those candles are way too cute!! I'd definitely buy them if I saw them for sale!! What a great idea for those ugly dollor store candles - good going girl!:yay: :yay:

I'm hunting for you. Those really are so pretty. If you picked up a lot of them, you could make them for just about any occasion too. I'd leave even the Christmas looking one out all year. It's really pretty! :)

Wow they're not easy to find. :(

Found another good site though, that has some great prices on craft stuff. http://www.graveyardmall.com/index.html

Found some here. Not a dollar but they're not that high. Still looking just cause I'm bored and this is now a challenge for me. http://stores.channeladvisor.com/MerchantOverstock/Store/Category.aspx?&Page=1&sort=2&catid=8957

That is gorgeous. Do you mind me asking what your technique is for grubbying those candles? I've got some of the yucky things that someone gave me and I never used them because I hate that cheap plastic look.

Sure, I make a paste using modge podge, instant coffee, ground cloves, coffee grounds, all spice, tiny bit of water. Not too much water you want it to be thick so it doesn't run. I just dab it on with a course brush. Thats about it. It's messy. HTH
