beautifulfeetcandles
I live right near several natural springs - one of them comes right out of a cliff area. There is a historic mill next to it and I thought it might be a great selling point of the soap especially here locally. Would there be any issues with me using real natural spring water? Soapmaker Man
In soaps, I've used rain water collected out from the house with a large plastic funnel in a plastic bucket to catch it in. I then filter it through a pitcher filter, a Britta, just to make sure there is nothing else in there. Don't do it all the time, and never for my lotions, creams or anything like that, just soap.Spring water....like careBear, why not?Paul.... CareBear
Why give up distilled? Cause I have to lug it home. I'd be using tap but the bottled is already in my cooler and ready to go.For lotions and delicate systems - distilled (and liquid soaps)
GrandmaArial
It depends on the minerals in the spring water. Most “spring” water we buy has been filtered but if it’s coming straight from the spring it could have a high mineral content. Many minerals will cause your soap to not lather but produce large amounts of scum, like using it with hard water. I would say try it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. If you lose quality in your soap you know that spring has a high mineral content, then you can bottle it and sell it for an exorbitant price….
