Llyrellin
Hello - is anybody else having problems with the faucet on their presto clogging? If so, does anyone know how to fix it?
siberia
Hi Llyrellin! What I do to avoid that issue is after I'm finished using the pot, I lay it on it's side with the spigot in the air (pointing to the ceiling). At this point the residual wax in the spigot is still warm and will run back out into the pot. Then wipe clean! I hope this makes sense. RobinInOR
When mine clogged, it was because of the rubber (whatever) washer that was inside the valve - DH took it apart and removed it, and it was fine. But mines not sealed on permanently so he could do that.
Connie
I have had my clog before if using a higher melt point wax. Like Hurricane wax that I use for embeds. It takes awhile for the spout to get hot enough to melt wax locked in there. I just take the heat gun and heat the copper spout and presto, comes right out. My presto pot has never clogged, but my 'professional' wax melter does it all the time. I just take my heatgun to the spout and the clogged wax melts and runs out.DanaE
fredron
I don't know what type spigot/valve you use, but I have what's known as a ball valve in mine. (put this together myself.) By the time the wax in the pot is melted, the wax in the valve is melted also. I occasionally have a clog when I let pillar/tart wax set up in the pot, but I don't do that often any more. A ball valve is cheap & is an easy fix. Buy them in the plumbing department near the regular valves.
