nmhoneybear
Anyone soaped this? Does it accelerate trace? TIA for any responses. Valerie
eugenia
I have not. The best method for an unknown FO is to soap cool and start with a whisk. You may not need the SB at all if it's a quick mover.e
nmhoneybear
Thanks Eugenia! I always let my oils and lye water get to room temp before I mix them, but thanks for suggesting the whisk. I will definitely try that. :smiley2:
MasterBaker2
I tried it a couple of times and ended up with soap on a stick both times. Let me know how it goes.
slow-burn
It accellerated like a mofo and had some ricing for me. And it turns into a deep brown fairly quickly when drying. I ended up shredding mine and adding it into an unscented batch and it came out very nice. Fragrance stays good and strong!
eugenia
Slow Burn and Master Baker, did you use a S/B? You may have been successful had you not.e
MasterBaker2
I did use a sb and have been meaning to give it a try in my KA. I've given up on the sb's. Too many small air bubbles.
nmhoneybear
Great! :undecided Wish I would have checked this thread again before I started getting my stuff ready. I have my oils and my lye water cooling to room temp and will be mixing it later today. I was going to do a purple swirl. And this is a 4 lb batch I am doing for a swap. I am worried. firegirl
Well.. How did it turn out?
nmhoneybear
I waited until both the lye water and oils were cooled completely, then just used a whisk to stir, NO stick blender. It didn't take long to get to trace, but I didn't get soap on a whisk. lol That's the good news. I swirled with purple, put it to bed, and peeked a while later. It is looking brownish yellow actually. The purple seems to have morphed brown, too. Something looks funny about it, but we'll see what the morning will bring. I am not even sure it still smells like Sultry Angel. What a bummer if this is a wasted batch. It would be my first ever in 9 months of soaping. :undecided
nmhoneybear
My soap looks like it is loaded with Cream of Wheat? Is that what ricing looks like? It still smells good, just looks weird. Will this soap still work, or do I need to pitch the whole thing? Guess Sultry Angel doesn't like to be soaped. What a drag! It is such a beautiful fragrance.
