sisterkaren
We just got our turkey fryer, (have been using the presto pots) and I am just making sure I am doing this right before I start, I'm a little nervous. You just put your wax in right on the heating coil? I have visions of wax explosions for some reason, lol. I did a search on turkey fryers here and I'm just looking for the simple instructions, sometimes I have a tendency to over look the dumbest things. Thanks. bugtussle
The 1st time you use it, premelt enough wax (in your presto pot) to cover the coils. Liquid wax must cover the coils before you start adding slabs of wax. Always keep your coils covered. Carole
sisterkaren
That is the exact tip I was looking for. I thought that the coil should be covered with liquid somehow. Thank you so much for your reply from the virgin turkey fryer user.
Sharon in KY
Cover with liquid wax before turning on. And never just turn on and go straight to start it will set the temp. at 400* and you may not notice. I always had a hard time seeing the back and just thought to turn the pot back to the right side towards the front. I only use the spout when I'm cleaning so this works great now I can see what temp. I have it set at.... duh
ShelleyBean
Also, after the first time of using it, and you turn it off, the next time you go to use it, poke some relief holes in your hard wax (i use a metal skewer) and make sure the lid is on because it will spit at you :smiley2:
